      Google question

      Does google follow which links you come from?

      I was in the Ambient music thread and someone posted this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DjPeJfsPx4

      And up the top of the right sidebar where there is usually related videos, it had a Lucid Dreaming video up the top of the list.

      Wondering whether google recognises where you clicked on the link, searches keywords and puts up related videos.

      Yes, it's called the "HTTP_REFERER", and is a standard header sent by web browsers to the target webserver

      It's just a URL sent to a webserver containing the page you came in from

      Any decent browser will give you the option of disabling (or specifying your own) referer

      I often type in the URL when I want to visit DV. I don't bother to make a new tab. I assume this gives referrer info.

      That's from porn sites, active bank website logins, personal forums I browse etc.
