There, happy? Based on countless "What religion are you?" polls, religious debates, and chat discussions on the subject.
I don't agree mate. I agree with the comments about most people being atheist on this forum, given the evidence we've got to work with, but I'm not to sure about the majority of posters being middle class. I suppose it's really subjective since it depends on your personal perspective of class, but personally I don't see anything to suggest that most people on Dreamviews are middle class. I reckon it would be pretty interesting to set up a poll and see what class, if any, people generally considered themselves. I think most people would consider themselves "upper working class." I'm not a fan of the term but I couldn't think of another way to put it.

Stas, I don't know you, this is the first time I've seen a post of yours, so I'm not gonna judge, but maybe you should go through the forums you and see if that happens 75% of the time generally or just in responses to you. I agree that people disagree more online than in real life, mainly because forums are for discussion, and disagreement is usually a great recipe for discussion; plus in real life people often don't have a view on most subjects, on the internet people search these topics and reply because they have an interest in them and thus usually, have a view on the topic. Usually the difference is how well you disagree with people. If your just pointing out the some people are quick to anger and judge then your right but I wouldn't say 75% of people are like that.

It is my opinion that both you and Ninja just like to think of the forums as being largely made up of people like yourselves. I think the members of this forum are extremely varied. Any of us could be wrong though, because at this point, there is no good way to tell.

If that is true, it still doesn't speak very well for StasConstantine. That works out to be about 110 in terms of IQ, or just inching above average.

I really do not think the majority of people here are atheist. Just the majority that post in certain areas of the forum which you frequent.

Even in R/S, the plurality tends to shift between atheists and the Eastern Spiritual crowd, who tend to allow for deism, some form of provisional polytheism, and/or Universalism.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

As deeply as we've penetrated the ontological foundations of idiocy, it's time for this thread to move to the Lounge.

      Do you mean 75%? Cuz I don't get that…

Course there's going to be a few threads you'd rather not see, but please note my 'few'. Not everyone's an idiot here. I don't think I am. Please correct me if I am.

Also, what's up against the Americans? That's the sort of stuff that's gonna get you attacked. And drive it up to 75%.

As for that happening to me, nope. Except when my brother talks total nonsense, but that dosen't often happen.

Sometimes, you get what you expect. I think it happens when you think people will be idiots.

There's legitmate reason to argue that Americans are stupider than the average person from a first-world country. The average American citizen has an average IQ of 98, which is good for a tie for 19th best in the world. While this is well above average and among the best in the world, it's extremely low for an industrialized nation. There are 18 countries with a higher national IQ than the United States. Given Internet demographics, it's safe to say that the majority of posters on English-speaking websites come from industrialized countries. Out of the countries whose citizens are most likely to post on the Internet, the United States has one of the lowest average IQs.

The argument that Americans are among the stupidest posters on the Internet is not one without evidence. The facts back up that argument quite well, actually.

      1) Why did you bump this?

      2) Just because America is rank #19 on that list with an IQ of 98, doesn't mean everyone else is way up there. Hong Kong is the highest with an average IQ of 107.

      3) I couldn't see the part where it said how many people they tested on for these studies, mind pointing that out for me?

      1) I looked for a long time, but I can't find the post. The official ruling was posted by Oneironaut ~2005 and the title of the thread was "Necro-Posting: What Not To Do." I can't find it now, but it said that you can bump threads if you have something contriubtive to add. I was using evidence to back up the original poster's claims, as he was being attacked by everyone. I brought solid evidence into the discussion and added a contributive viewpoint supported by facts.

      2) Just because the figure isn't large doesn't mean it's not there. Of the average English-speaking Internet posters, Americans are among the stupidest.

      3) If you read the whole article, you would see that for most countries, the results are "based on their analysis of published reports." However, not enough data was available for every country so "In those cases, the authors have used an estimated value by taking averages of the IQs of neighboring or comparable nations. For example, the authors arrived at a figure of 84 for El Salvador by averaging their calculations of 79 for Guatemala and 88 for Colombia."

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. Most of the time, when I want to do something technically, I searched for answers on forums and stuffs, and usually people would reply a question with another useless question. And then there are the less useless but no more useful type of repliers that tell the questioner to try this and that, which won't work most of the time, and then after telling the person to go through all that, they disappeared from the thread, showing their uselessness after driving the questioner around in circle.

If americans really are among the most stupid posters on average, which I'm not sure of because I haven't done the reasearch, couldn't it be because people from other countries who post in English are at least bilingual and therefore more likely to have a higher education rather than it being due to a small difference in average IQs?

How is America among the stupidest? They're 9, count 9 IQ points under the highest ranking country. That's not a lot. And even then, it doesn't state how many people were tested and what reports they used for testing.

I don't know that americans actually are the stupidest posters, but in america it is "cool" to be stupid. Becasue of this I think people post really stupid things that they think are funny, which are actually just stupid. There is also the fact that many americans, particularly the ones who spend an excessive amount of time on the internet, are fairly apathetic, which breeds stupidity.
157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.

You have no facts to back any of this up. this is just stereotyping. Most of my friends are really intelligent and i live in Brooklyn NY. Yeah theres a couple of stupid people here and there but every country has those. For you to come out and say most stupid posters are American is biased and not based on anything (except 1 chart, which doesn't prove much).

That would be like me saying in Iraq its "cool" to bomb American things, so most terrorists come from Iraq. Now i personally don't even know if there is such a thing as "terrorists" but that would be just as biased.
