      Fights

This is just something I've noticed and started wondering about today.

Why to people try to break up a physical fight by pulling a person away?

All of my life, whenever there's been physical violence, I stand in between the people. Maybe it's because I'm a girl that I've never been hit or stabbed (yeah, once it was a knife fight in the making. When I was a teen, some kid pulled a knife on my brother and I stepped in between them and demanded the blade).
Now, when my kids are wailing on each other, I step in between them. I've been partially spat on but never struck. It's the only way to break them up. Siblings will try to pull them apart, but that just seems to make the fighters angrier.

      How do you handle fights?

Well I must say that depending on the situation, I have threw the kid into a wall to stop it. but I also got in front of them to stop them from proceeding on to the other person(s)
