James Cameron Confirms Avatar Sequel - His "Save the Earth" campaign.

      http://www.treehugger.com/files/2010...initiative.php

"The Avatar sequel, which Cameron's estimates won't be done for about three years, will take place in Pandora's oceans environment, tapping into his hundreds of hours in underwater dives. No doubt, that film's eco-campaign will focus on protecting marine environments."

      I'm not surprised.
It was obvious that the story didn't end in the first movie.
I just wonder if this will be as big a deal.

I have a feeling it will be about saving the marine environment, as avatar was the rainforest.

It will be about how the humans came back to drill offshore for oil.

Hopefully, in the end, the humans die.

I wish we would establish the structure of society, rules for social behavior, and the ceremonies performed in order to ensure continuity of life and land.

instead of dumping oil, dumping plastic, and what ever else into the ocean waters.

I wonder how man could get so disconnected to something that creates all of life.
Perhaps through dreaming we could get there again, like in some Aboriginal world views.

Interesting, but im sorta getting tired of avatar heh.

I miss the old creations of James Cameron like Terminator and The Abyss, or Aliens.

The real question is, does watching a mainstream, big-budget environmental film coax the mainstream general public into pressuring their senators and government into passing eco-friendly legislation, or at least making eco-friendly lifestyle choices? Or is it all just a big waste of time other than sheer entertainment value and bemoaning the hopelessness of our planet?

I presume its the latter DeeryTheDeer, most people just want to be entertained in these times, these days to get your mind off the depressing news you'll (i'd) do anything to keep my mind off the negative.

Isn't that what movies are nowadays? Sheer entertainment, aside from those damn educational ones in science classes...

Back on topic, I'd love to see a sequel. I fell in love with the first one, so much i ended up dreaming about it And i think that those who actually have a brain can do something about this, and hopefully these types of movies will spark that change. I'm only 16 so i cant do a huge amount, but hopefully some others will too.

Human smarts and civilized ways best triumph over the ignorant savage this time.

I shall not rest until I see a fair government that offers the rights of education, health care and equal opportunities available to all sentient creatures. The primitive and barbaric defiance of a few dissident elements within this 'Nah Vey' peoples or whatever they name themselves cannot be tolerated, as I see great potential amongst those among them who do not give in so easily to the rebellious few.

      Environment be damned.

Good question. I think that it may slowly influence a generation of youngsters growing up with movies like this. In the short term it won't do anything much. Unfortunately we don't have much time left.

I wasn't greatly impressed with avatar to start with but I notice the more time that passes since the time I saw it, the more it fades from memory. The movie really didn't have any impact on my what so ever, which isn't really a surprise, since it had no story at all.

I doubt I will see the next one in the theater. I will probably wait until its on tv.
