I feel so bad when I see my family lacking things...

Every time I see my little sister wishing for something that many other kids have and she doesn't, I felt a hole in my heart, which in turn I hate myself for being so incompetent and broke. Like if I was rich my mom could afford a better place to live, my dad does not have to work so hard day and night just to make ends meet. Every time I think about it it just screwed my mind over. I desperately wished to change my life just to be able to afford them a better living.

My life aspiration is to be a writer, I think I am a competent writer, better than most people but not good enough to be a best selling novelist. But I am trying hard to get better so I can make lots of money, you will probably tell me that most writer will be broke, I know this fact, but I also know that this is America and everybody has a chance.

Just a thought that I wanted to share.

I'm in some-what of the same position as you. My mum is a single parent and my school friends don't seem to understand that we don't have as much money as they do... It is really frustrating when they know that my mother is trying to save money at the moment, but they continue to ask me why I can't go places that cost a lot, and why I can't afford over-the-top expensive clothes at the moment. They just don't get it because they have never lived my life, and they have never been short on money. I really wish that I could get a job, but I live in a small town that basically has 2 shops that someone of my age could work at, and I can't drive yet, so I obviously can't drive somewhere everyday to work, and go to school at the same time. :\ And of course having Social Anxiety Disorder doesn't help...
It isn't like we're dirt poor or anything, it's just a self explanatory fact that a single parent can't afford the same amount of things that two parents can, and so my mother wants to save money for a while. It's hard explaining this to people, though.
I am also a good writer and wish to write something that will get published. Just keep trying; you can do anything you believe you can... A lot of good writers came from poorer living situations. And who knows, maybe you and I will end up going down in history like Shakespeare.

Well my dad is a single parent too but at least I can drive but I'm a part time student and simply don't earn enough. Well, I guess I need to get my ass off the computer and start writing LOL!!!

I love horror novels so I'm writing one. It's about a depressed man who came across a secluded village where monsters show up at night and take the children away. I'm trying to figure out the plot and fix some plot holes so it should take a while.

But at the moment I'm considering entering a short fiction contest. Maybe you should give it a search, there's many of them and it builds your reputation, plus they award you money if you win. What about you? Plan on writing something?

To me, and I am not a competent writer. The key thing is to write about thoughts and ideas, but presenting them in a way the masks the thought or idea just enough to make the reader want to learn and understand it more. Atleast this is what I find to be most attractive in a book or novel. Take what you want from this just thought i would offer up advice to try and help yous out.

      Sounds cool!
I've entered some school short-story competitions over the past and I've gotten awards for them.
I'm more into romance, and I'm still trying to build a storyline, so I don't know what I'll end up writing...
