Legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio passes away
After much confusion last night it turns out the rumors are true. For those who don't know Dio, his voice was legendary in metal and he was the one that popularized the devil horns.
"Message from Wendy Dio
Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.
- Wendy Dio"
R.I.P. Dio. You may have lost the fight with cancer but your music will live on.
The lover of life's not a sinner
The ending is just a beginner
The closer you get to the meaning
The sooner you'll know that you're dreaming
So it's on and on and on
Oh it's on and on and on
It goes on and on and on, Heaven and Hell!
What what what what what?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did not know that! I still love his music, and I was a fanatic in junior high. I think he did a phenomenal job as the singer who took Ozzy Osbourne's place in Black Sabbath.
That was after he worked as the lead singer of a band called Rainbow. He later had a solo career (well, a band called Dio) in which he recorded such classics as these...
I can't believe he's dead now. I'm glad I got to see him perform at The Varsity in Baton Rouge in 1994. R.I.P.

Yeah I've been listening to him almost religiously recently and I was hoping to see him in concert sometime. Looks like that chance will never come now :(.
