Heating water and drying clothes have been some of the traditional uses of the sun’s energy in the household. But lately the energy has been brought to use in a variety of other operations. The sun’s energy is so huge that the earth gets nearly 3, 850,000 exajoules of energy ever year. The amount absorbed by the planet in one hour is enough to charge it up for an entire year!

It is necessary to tap this energy well to bring it into use. Solar energy comes in the form of sun’s heat as well as its light. The sun’s heat can be utilized using a solar panel and other such device. The light of the sun can be converted into electricity, which is one of the best uses of solar energy till date. This conversion into electricity can be done using solar energy devices like the solar plants and Photo Voltaic devices.

Owing to its many uses, the solar power investments have grown in recent years. This is evident in the fact that cost of solar energy has lowered to only 71% since the year 1980.
