Do you think in 3rd person?

I seem to always think in 3rd person, I do not know why. I have done this all my life and don't remember ever thinking in 1st person.

IE: Right now I am thinking I am at my computer making this thread. I can see the back of my body and what I am wearing. No matter how hard I try, I can't think and what I actually see in real life.

Poll time. Do you think in 1st person or 3rd person. Does everybody think in 3rd person?

Well I was going to make a poll but I forgot to check the box.

I can think in first person if I stop and try to think of what I would actually see. But yes, whenever I'm imagining myself doing something, it's always in the third person. If somebody were to say, "Imagine yourself looking in the refrigerator," I see from the back or side of my body, holding the door open and looking inside.

I second what Odd said.... for the most part. If I think about driving or writing I "see" through my own eyes. If I think of my congregation, "I" seem to be entirely absent (ironically enough).
I typically don't think or even remember in pictures though, normally it's in words (not so much sounds, though I can get stuck on some at times.. and not letters).

Very, very strange... when I remember having sex, I tend to see things through my hubby's eyes. When I'm having sex, "I'm" usually absent. Oddly enough, images of trees and caves seem to flood my mind (and the deeper into either you get, the closer I am to... ahem.. climax).

I do, however, talk to myself all the time though when I'm alone and I refer to myself as a separate person during such times ("Ugh, what am I going to do today... Hmmm, I think we need to go shopping. Be sure you remember the dog food!" rofl)
When I speak with others or in the presence of others, I always use proper tenses
Just because I may be slightly crazy doesn't mean I want to advertise that to everyone

hmm, thats odd, i allways think in first person, and just assumed everyone else does to.

The only time i tend to think in 3rd person is if I'm trying to see something from someone elses perspective.
Or occassionly when I'm getting frustrated with something that I can't do right ("What the hell are you doing!? Grrrr! Ok, I just need to calm down and re-evaluate...) - But thats more like second person for the blame and back to first person for the advice ^^

I always think in third person unless I'm trying to see my position (like in a paintball game) from someone else's perspective.

I only think in the third person if I'm trying to imagine myself doing something atheletic, like jumping off a rooftop or something...or if I'm dreaming. But otherwise, it's almost always in first.

When I actively try to remember how I think, then everything I'm getting is in first person. However, when I'm not actively trying to remember, it may be in third person, I guess I'll never know.

Myself, always in first person. Thinking in 3rd person probably means you're more of an auditory thinker, though I could be wrong.

While the Philosopher generaly thinks in first person (Why would he care about another person? He is The Philosopher after all!), The Philospher generaly speaks in third person. He likes the officiousness of it. While there is really no need for him to underscore his general superiority, it helps others out sometimes. The Philosopher is nothing if not magnanimous and is always looking out for the little people.

I'm constantly narrating my own life/plans/reasonings in thought, don't know if that counts.

Always in first-person, always in images, sounds, feelings, very little in words. I only think in words if I'm actually thinking of talking to someone else.

The Philosopher is a pompous idiot - like that??

Yeah, I can't not think in first person. I take in everything through my own eyes and perspective. Sometimes I'll think "Jeez Jessica what were you thinking?" but I think that is quite normal...

I find it curious indeed that when the OP thinks of themselves posting this, they see the back of thier body and what they are wearing. Where as I will always see my hands typing in front of me when I think about it...

Arg, I used to do that to an extreme, Scatterbrain. Then I started taking meds and it's not so bad lol.
Seriously, it can be a form of obsessive/compulsive disorder. But if it's not life-altering, it's nothing to worry about. I started taking meds for severe anxiety and just noticed that change in my thinking and connected it.

But, I still have a running commentary before certain meetings. My brain comes up with endless scenarios about what might be discussed and the replies I might give lol. I think that's one of the reasons I'm so empathetic. I see all possible sides to a conversation before anyone even starts talking

When I think, I don't really talk to myself, I just know what I'm going to say, so no dialoug goes on...When I remember things, I couldn't tell you what it's like. It's definitely not in 3rd person' nor 1st. I'm just...there I guess.

I think in English but when I was speaking a lot of Spanish I'd constantly think in Spanish. I even had dreams in Spanish last summer during a grad trip to Mexico.

Starry starry night, paint your pallet blue and gray,
Look out on a summers day,
with eyes that know the darkness of my soul.
