An internet friend of mine died

I have frequented a forum since 2003, and one of the coolest posters, "Epic" committed suicide the other day.
Over the year of posting together and hanging in IRC we became friends.
It's a weird feeling to mourn the loss of someone you've never actually met.

Rest in Peace, Mark F. You truly were Epic.

How did you find out? I've always figured that if I actually died one day, my internet persona would probably just disappear without anybody knowing why.

I talk about this place enough to the people that care about me that I'm pretty sure one of them would get on here let people know if something happened to me.

He had a history of depression and drug abuse, he was taking SSRIs and apparently was talking of suicide to the IRC crew(I hadn't been in a quite while so I didn't know). It's real shitty.

Did he stop taking the SSRIs? Antidepressant are actually somewhat dangerous if you take them and then immediately stop taking them. They will plunge a person into a severely deep depression, far worse than if they had never taken SSRIs before.

Sorry to hear, i know 4 internet people who are now dead. One died in hurricane katrina, one died from cancer i think? one died from a car accident, and one i knew was dieing and she no longer came back online even today so i figure she died. One killed himself because i was internet dating the girl he loves but i never knew him ( i dated online when i was young and dumb lol). Anyway it's online so who knows what really happened.
