No.
Im sure there are some ways to do this.
A very very thin knife.
Or explosives.
Straightening Iron.
Of course, you can get one that is much much cheaper, but the Chi is the best I've found for my long thick hair. Guys with shorter hair would do fine with the drug store variety priced under 20 bucks (unless you have a jew fro, then you're just screwed). You can also try styling gel/smoothing serum, although I would advise against it, since most guys just don't understand how it works and use too much. You can also just go to the salon and tell them what sort of look you are going for. They will be able to cut it in such a way to get it to lay how you want. They can even thin it out for you by cutting it a certain way.
My hair is very thick too, and the way that I got it thinned was using scissors like this:

It means that if you cut the hair with it near the scalp, it will only take away some of the hairs, leaving you with thinner hair.
But, don't do it yourself, it takes skill to use those scissors, so actually go somewhere.
Besides, when you get it done professionally, they may have other and better ways to do it. I know that there is a few ways to do it.
