      Suspected bank robber takes toddler hostage in Sacramento apartment

      "SACRAMENTO, CA - A man suspected of three armed robberies in the Bay Area and attempted murder of a peace officer was holed up inside a Sacramento apartment complex after taking a 1-year-old child hostage, triggering an hours-long standoff Wednesday."

      Wow, that's intense, but I am kind of questioning the intelligence of th robber. I mean, why would he take a 1 year old hostage? It seems to me like there would be better options for hostages. However, maybe that person was the only one he could get...

      It's over. The kid is safe and the suspect is currently in the hospital for a gunshot wound.

      Either Mom misunderstood what she had heard or I misunderstood what she told me. I THOUGHT I heard her tell me that the suspect was being treated in the hospital. However, the kid went to the hospital briefly but was fine, and the suspect was shot dead.

      Apparently they blew a hole in the wall at some point.
