'Touchdown Jesus' Struck by Lightning and Burned to the Ground

'Touchdown Jesus' as it is called was struck by lightning last night and burned to the ground so fast that fire squads could not save any part of it. The styrofoam statue of Jesus' torso up with his arms outstretched like a referee calling 'Touchdown!' is merely a steel structure. This statue, with initial response from the church where the statue is located, will be recreated.

The irony is priceless.

I just heard about this...it's pretty hilarious. Touchdown Jesus should never have existed. Divine Providence.

This thing was only about ten minutes away from my house btw...and so very ugly...I'm glad to see it gone. Hopefully they don't rebuild it into something even more ridiculous.

All is well then, much is said in the text about the second comming--all of which contradicts so called orthodoxy. It is nice to see some pagan images leaving.

I have done some checking, it seems as if no one is prepared for what must be, but entrenched in what they imagine should be.

I think it's part of the chair, there's one on the other side as well. Zeus' junk is probably made of lightning.

Does that not make it an idol? It's still an idol, and it's not the real Jesus, even if it's crafted in perfect likeness.

I kinda freaked at this, because I had driven by that statue four days before this incident, and commented on how cool it looked as a statue. My girlfriend and her friend said it was creepy. I'm guessing they wished this to happen?
