      2010 is really retro...

Hasy anyone else noticed this lately? Everyone's starting to wear clothes that look like they're from the 40's or 50's and girls are wearing flowers in their hair. Even fedoras are popular again! I've also noticed a lot of products are changing their packaging to look like they're from the 60's too. What decade do you think is most popular right now?

It would be hard to pick. I think there is a mixture of everything really. I mean think about, if thinks were popular at one point, they must have been good. Why cant they be good today?

"edit" ^ yeah those are the types im describing. Hipsters. (gag)
But more often than not these 40's/50's/60's hats which were common with business people are starting to become popular with douche bag teenagers, the kind that dye their hair purple, have piercings on their lips, eyebrows and eyes, and purposefully tear their jeans. Which is a shame since it is an awesome hat/s/.

or to be more specific hats like this: http://content.artofmanliness.com/up...8/03/hats1.png

I think people in this generation cant come up with anything original so they are looting off the glories of past Decades.

look at this cunt making fun of the 60's style (he is dressed like a 60's dude or do i have my decades wrong) I see lots of rockers or indie rockers or whatever on tv dressed like this. It annoys the fuck out of me.

Yeah I agree, Although I like seeing all of this stuff come back to popularity, this dumb ass generation is probably going to screw it up or only think of it as a novelty

Well yeah, but I mean like if they were wearing a fedora just because it's retro instead of because they think that it looks good.

I only notice fedoras being popular in my school, although most people just wear them to act like idiots which most of them already are (myself included ) Only I don't wear then. I'm not a big fan of hats.

What's the difference? Retro is hip--which means it looks good.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge people based on their outward appearance. This thread is, after all, talking about fashion, and fashion is just...well, fashion. In spite the myth that your fashion sense determines who you are as a person, you'd be surprised how many of those people with hot pink mohawks and a million piercings are the antithesis of douchebag, personality wise.

And how long did it take medieval dress styles like doublets and tight hose to evolve into modern day T-shirts and jeans? If you think today's generation is the only one to have gone "retro" over the centuries, you're most definitely mistaken. And on top of that, how is something unoriginal just because it's been done before? Star Wars, for example, "steals" plenty of ideas from samurai movies, Flash Gordon, etc., yet it still managed to make all those ideas seem new and fresh. Would you consider that an unoriginal series?

lol. I'm not judging them as a whole person, after all humans are dynamic characters as apposed to flat characters, to use literary terms. Just for the economy of expression, I use generalizations. and in this generalization I think that style is frankly douchebagiesh (is that even a word). The person that purposely wears bowler hats, tears their genes, dies their hair purple and wears a t-shirt that says "PHRESH" might not be a douche bag, hell they may be the greatest person in the world. Still, a gay way to dress in my opinion. and like it or not how people dress is taken as a statement of their personality. I know, such a cruel world. But oh well.

I don't know, I haven't seen any of those series. But umm, you have a point. Just in my opinion, I think some retro ways of dressing are very well gay...Like I said just an opinion. Maybe it will evolve into something I do not perceive as being gay or hipsterish someday. I guess it just depends on your outlook. That I do not like something is not exclusively related to whether or not it is borrowed a past decade or even century (i.e originality). Just there is a difference between being a hipster douche and letting a music style or dress style inspire you or your music (Bhangra, Fok Metal (you probably dont like it but some of it is okay to me). It just comes down to opinion I guess, especially where you define the difference and what not. anyway you are welcome to yours.
