Earthquake??

Wtf? Anybody else live around Ottawa? We're not supposed to get earthquakes

Looks like it was a 5.0 magnitude quake in southern Quebec.

My house is about 40 km from the epicenter. I was in the basement and at first it sounded like a large truck was passing by my house. The vibrations got quite strong and LOUD and lasted about 30 seconds. No damage though, just some toppled items from shelves.

I've never felt an earthquake before, it was really quite impressive and surreal how the whole ground is moving beneath you. I've seen some really bad storms and tornados in person but they didn't come close to the sense of awe I got from even a minor quake. I can't imagine what a 7+ magnitude quake must feel like.
