Try this, record yourself saying, "This is a dream, I am dreaming," Every two minutes or so for half an hour.

Describe a dream scape that you want to be in.

This is a way of safe self-hypnosis. This way, you don't have to worry about others suggesting things to you.

Now, play it in earbuds as you fall asleep. Make sure you tell yourself to wake up at the end.

Here's an example.

Let yourself simply fall asleep. You will wake up in your dream. Imagine you are at the bottom of a waterfall, on the edge of a crystal pool. You walk around it and go behind a waterfall. You see there is actually a cavern behind the waterfall, and the pool goes further back into the mountain. Before you are stairs descending into the water. You take the first step. 10. Your eyelids are heavy. Your breath slows. Your heart slows. The water is up to your ankles.
9. You relax your feet. You relax your legs. long pause The water is up to your knees.
8. You relax your head, and neck. long pause The water is up to your thighs.
7. Take a step. You relax your shoulders and chest. long pause The water is up to your waist.
6. You relax your back. long pause The water is up to your chest.
5. Take a step. You relax your butt. Let your tongue fall away from the roof of your mouth. long pause You swim out into the water.
4. You are now floating in the water. It's the most buoyant water you have ever felt. You float on your back, and see bright green ferns hanging from the ceiling of the cave, dripping water. The waterfall roars right by your ears. Pause 30 seconds
3. You dive and discover you can breathe underwater. The water is full of brightly colored fish nibbling at algae. The water is cool and pure. You inhale it. Pause one minute
2. You swim past a mirror, then turn and look at yourself. You are a merperson. I must be dreaming, you say to yourself. I am dreaming, says your reflection back. You stare at yourself in the mirror. You notice you look extremely detailed, every wrinkle, every scale. Pause 15 seconds.
1. You remind yourself you are dreaming throughout the dream. You swim down the cavern.

Pause 5 minutes

I am dreaming. I should do a reality check.

Pause ten minutes. I am dreaming. Do a reality check. Pause ten minutes. I am dreaming. Do a reality check. Now, return to the pool with the stairs.
