      DreamStar?

Every time I've logged in for the past few days there's been a banner ad for the "DreamStar". I looked at the page it links to and it seems to just be a pretty NovaDreamer. I have used neither of these products nor have I heard anything about their success rates. I'm looking into possibly buying one and I was wondering if anyone had one or knew something about them. Thanks, Happy dreaming!

Same here, I keep getting the ad.

I wouldn't rely on aids like that, because their effectiveness is a bit controversial. They will flash lights and stuff, but you need the presence of mind to notice those lights in your dream - since having a clearer presence of mind has to be practiced in waking life and can induce LDs all by itself, then it kinda defeats the purpose of products like the NovaDreamer or DreamStar. Spending the money on dream vividness supplements or some meditation classes may be more worthwhile than shelling out the money for the DreamStar.

      Moved this to Lucid Aids.~
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Haha, you clicked it too. Now that ad will follow you around for a few weeks. I had the misfortune of clicking one of the Zeo ads last spring. A word of caution: DO NOT CLICK ZEO ADS! They will follow you everywhere to the point of being ridiculously obnoxious

As for 260$, this is something brand new, that noone has heard of. If you are really gonna spend 260$ on a dream mask, get REM dreamer, those guys have been around a lot longer to work out all the hardware kinks...

I've noticed this also, I'm wondering if this is better than the Nova Dreamer. Because every time I log in there it is, I really don't get it why the ad is always there every time I log on. Do you think that someone put up the banner so people could buy it? Or do you think DV put the ad there and recommending people to get the product. Because I haven't seen that ad change since I logged on most of the time. Or if I refresh the page its always there. Any way, I've clicked the link and see the thing, It seems pretty legit, I wonder if its really worth getting. I haven't tried the Nova Dreamer yet but I wonder which ones are better. Also there is the Rem Dreamer so I don't know which of these three will be best. They all seem like they have good reviews.

      EDIT:

I have also found a video on the DreamStar, If you want to look at it here is a video of a tutorial on it.

I'd take Puffin's advice. Without having the presence of mind to question your surroundings, the lights and sound from the Dreamstar and other devices like it would simply incorporate themselves into your dream: The flashing lights might look like lightning and the beeps might end up being music, a cell phone, etc. If I was to consider buying this device, I'd do a little research first and read all the reviews I can find.

These ads that show up are a necessary evil. By letting these people/companies advertise on here, it helps cover the cost of running this website. If they don't already, Dreamviews should post a disclaimer something along the lines of "products and services advertised on Dream Views are not endorsed by us."

A disclaimer would be nice. I think its cool that the ads on the site are at least pertinent to lucid dreaming though.

I have seen a bunch of those ads too!

My opinion: They might work for you, might not. It depends on the person. I think the success rate in fairly high, but it seems a bit expensive just for a sleep mask that helps you lucid dream. I suggest you just stick to the old fashion way, and do it all naturally.

one thing that you might notice is that the link in the ad is direct. It does not go through contnet networks, like the bottom link, which goes through google. This is a direct ad placed there

I don't know. It seems like things things are way overpriced for what they do. You could make a device like that much cheaper than $260, and if you do a bit of Googling you can find instructions.

Even then, I'll stick with valerian+melatonin and visualization MILDs. Buying a lucid inducing device is like paying someone to change your oil. It's just a matter of whether you would rather do some work on your own or pay extra for less effort.

Dreamstar mask : Didnt work for me !

I bought the Dreamstar mask some time ago ,and it turned out to be the biggest waste of money , it is feature rich but trying to sleep with the thing is nearly impossible as the controller unit which is the size of a cigarette packet creates extreme discomfort after a while and your forehead starts hurting , and this is despite keeping the unit inside the soft padded mask...buy it only if YOU ARE A REALLY HEAVY SLEEPER WHO FALLS A SLEEP REALLY FAST...
