A simple WILD helper for the phone
Hello, people. I'm new here, although I read the forum periodically. I started to lucid dreaming four years ago, and since then it has become my top priority, but I've never had something interesting to share here with you. Perhaps(hopefully!) I do have now.
I did a small app for my phone, for addressing the two problems with WILD:
- You can't fell asleep because you're too focus on counting, visualizing, repeating a mantra or whatever you do to maintain awareness.
- You passed out.
The app is nothing fancy, just very simple:
- It triggers a vibration at random, between 30 and 90 seconds. Imagine that this is the phone asking: "are you still awake?". If you are, you press a button, and then the cycle repeats.
- If you not press a button after the phone vibrates, then you've fell asleep, and so, after 5 minutes, it triggers an alarm sound to wake you up.
As you sure have noticed, you need to have the phone attached to your hand, in order to barely move the finger when you need press the button.
With the vibrations at random, you not need to worry about maintaining awareness, you just go to sleep like you normally do. That worry has been moved to an external device, you just need to confirm that you are awake when the phone asks you.
Now, if you succeed your WILD or not, an alarm is going to wake you up after 5 minutes, but in either case is very easy to reenter the dream, just staying still after you woke up. Of course I could change this to wait 10, 15 minutes before trigger the alarm.
But, it's too soon to draw a conclusion. First, tonight is going to be the third night of testing, althought the previous two nights were a succeed. Second, I have experience in WILDing. Like I said, lucid dreaming is a top priority for me and I worked hard to be able to WILD pretty much whenever I want. I WILD every day of the week, but of the seven days, I only succeed in 5, maybe 6, and I'm never 100% sure that I'm gonna to succeed. I want that 100%, or fairly close to it.
The first night of testing, the phone vibrated a couple of times until I experiencied the usual symptoms of the transition to a lucid dream and I had a FA (thats the way my lucid dreams start with WILD usually). Five minutes later, the alarms woke me up, but I reentered the dream. I didn't want to reenter the dream again after this so I could write down all details of the experience without forgetting anything.
The second night, basically the same thing happened.
I want to point out here that it took me less time to WILD than it usually takes me, and also I fell sure to succeed when WILDing because if I fell asleep, the alarm is going to wake me up.
Have you maybe tried with a similar method? Do you think this may work for you? I could certainly tweak it a little and upload somewhere. In any case, I will continue to post here daily, for the next two weeks, the results with the app.
Forgive, by the way, my english, it's not my first language.
