      Amoryn Mood Booster

Has anybody heard of this before? I think it's relatively unknown. I just got a bottle of this in the mail because it contains a St. John's wort extract that is standardized to contain hyperforin rather than hypericin (which most stores have, and has very different pharmacological effects) and I wanted to see if it could be used for dreams or anything. What I didn't expect is it to contain a bunch of other ingredients as well which actually make this sound like it could be a pretty useful supplement. The ingredients are as follows:

      • 10 mg Vitamin C
      • 400 IU Vitamin D3
      • 20 mg Vitamin B6
      • 30 mcg Vitamin B12
      • 300 mcg Folic Acid
      • 15 mg Zinc
      • 70 mcg Selenium
      • 18 mg Hyperforin
      • 25 mg 5-HTP
      • 90 mg Rhodiola Rosea Extract

Vitamin B6, as everyone here should know, is definitely useful for dreams. It plays an important role in the production of dopamine, which is very important for recall, lucidity, and dream formation and stability in general. Vitamin C, folic acid, and zinc are also a part of this same dopamine production process, and thus they should all boost dreams in relatively the same way as vitamin B6. In fact, I actually took them a few times on my own within these last few days and my dreams were definitely improved. The 5-HTP I probably don't need to explain as everyone knows that's a good boost, too.

The lesser known ones, hyperforin and rhodiola rosea, I've done a little research into as well. Hyperforin is a reuptake inhibitor of a large number of chemicals in the brain, including but not limited to serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, GABA, and glutamate. I can think of all kinds of crazy reasons this might effect dreams, but I'll leave those theories aside right now; the important part is that the compounds in St. John's wort have been found to enhance REM sleep, so this is a good thing. Rhodiola rosea has been found to do the same, though I'm not entirely sure how it works yet. It does have MAOI activity, but only at doses above normal for this kind of thing, and certainly not from the dose in this pill. I'm hoping the effect will still be significant, though.

Anyone, I'm thinking about giving this a shot tonight or tomorrow, so I'll be able to report back on how it works either way.

Thanks! I'm sure you can order the plant online if you want, I know some herb sites that sell it. It's a popular over-the-counter herbal supplement and tea ingredient (at least here).

It might sound stupid but I don't like ordering or buying natural supplements (or any plant or fruit). I want to try get everything through my mind or my area. And there are so many different chamicals in plants I have a huge range of things to try. Around my house alone there are mushrooms, horse chestnut trees, all kinds of plants and weeds, wild roots and fruit, plants like clovers, shamrocks and mint etc. I don't feel good buying these stuff when I can collect similar ingredients. I still would like to hear how it goes with your experience though.

Hey alyzarin, does your amoryn mood booster actually contain st johns wort extract or only hyperforin. I just found out that your delta opoid receptor regulates your non-shivering thermoregulation, A study conducted a for the past three months showed that mice which had their DOR gene removed stayed lean. I remeber coming across a chemical called amentoflavone in St johns wort which happens to be a DOR antagonist, so it might have a potential as a weight losing plant, I feel so smart now

Look at you! Doing your research. Yeah, it contains an extract that is just standardized to hyperforin, so there are likely other chemicals in it but how much of each is questionable. That's pretty interesting. I wonder how that effect is regulated? I've read before that delta-opioid receptors can interact with beta-2 adrenergic receptors, and upon reading a bit more about it just now it seems that they positively influence each other. So I wonder if blocking delta-opioid receptors would also decrease activity at beta-2 adrenergic receptors? Beta-2 is part of what causes the flight-or-fight response, and beta blockers like propanolol have been used for things like anxiety and stage fright before with a lot of success, so I wonder if the effects are connected? That would mean that it could have a good confidence-boosting effect as well, which is always nice.

Okay so I might try St johns wort and peppermint for the next few days. Supposedly it both increases rem and deep sleep quality Great.

Good luck! I've used hypericin-dominant extracts of St. John's wort for dreams before, and it definitely had an enhancing effect. I hope you get some good results out of it.

This stuff sounds rather interesting. I'll be keeping my eye out for how this worked for you. I tried Dream Water, which helped with Vividness, but other than that I had no LD from drinking it. It tasted pretty good too.
Happy dreaming, I hope this works for you!

What's in Dream Water? This is the first I've heard of it.

      And thanks!

Plus, if you have Vitamin B6 pills it could really expand the dream world.
I'd love to get my hands on some Galantamine to give it a try.
I'm fairly new at the supplements but would like to expand what I take, refine what works for me, and eventually make my own lucid dreaming medicine.

Sounds cool. Thanks for the info!
Galantamine is interesting. I might have to get some more of that.... It's definitely one worth experimenting with, works well for most people.

Not yet. I've been consistently high when going to bed lately so I didn't want to waste a pill. I'm seeing how far my strength of will stretches tonight, though.

I may be telling people to 'suck eggs' here as you probably already know, or rain on anybody's parade; but here it goes anyway for anybody reading that doesn't.

      R.E: St John's Wort.
I have seen 'vivid dreams' listed as a side effect. Others inc. some people may experience sensitivity to sunlight. Sexual/erectile dysfunction, etc. People suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia may find their symptoms worsen.
Do NOT use with antidepressants, particularly SSRIs due to increase risk of serotonin syndrome.

The side effects you've listed (aside from sensitivity to sunlight, which I have experienced from taking more than the recommended dose and it's very mild) are common to all SSRIs and require chronic use to appear, like at least two weeks or more. There is no risk of St. John's wort being used conservatively, like a couple times a week (as I'm always suggesting dream aids should be used >w<). Acute use has a side effect list comparable to placebo.

St johns wort has been used as a remedy in ireland and england for over 2000 years. In all its time there has only been mild cases of digestive problems and one case of extreme sensitivity to sun light, coupled with the fact that we are not taking a medical dose of st johns wort nor the frequency it is unlikely we would notcie many side effects.
But thanks for posting this, its good to show people to still be qeary using these remedies.
