Yes. I've had the same thoughts. It's something I come back to occasionally but haven't made any progress yet.

I don't believe that would work. It's about not trying to move as much as actually not moving. You have to recognise you are waking and then not send the nerve impulses to your muscles that would then make the mind feel the body was awake. You can "virtually move" without actually moving.
Wearing a mask to keep the light out when you open your eyes probably does help, although just the muscle reflex of opening your eyes probably triggers an awake response in your brain.
I have heard of people wearing sleep masks for it a lot.
I think it is an important part learning how to wake up without moving just through mnemonics.
I also agree very much with golden spark. It is sending the signal that is the problem, not the actual movement. For instance if you are laying there and someone moved you, you don't need to worry, you didn't send the signal.
i think it could still help, just the feeling all over your body would remind u instantly to not move after a few tries..
I think sleep paralysis during REM sleep is initiated from the brain, so that you don't act out your dream experiences. The idea of not moving when you wake is all about training your mind not to move so that at a baser level your mind is tricked into thinking that you are still in the sleep paralysis mode. I suggest it's more about not triggering the sequence of events that lead to full wakefullness, which starts with the initial movement.
I think this idea of your "body being asleep" is a bit misleading. I think it's more about the brain shutting itself off from the direct motor control of the bodies muscles, which is still the brain going to sleep.
It's just that there is a closed-loop system where a movement is also sensed back at the brain, it's not a one-way process of your brain saying move and a limb moving.
I know I am terrible at this. As soon as I wake I do a load of stretches, then remember I should be keeping still! I admit though, I haven't practised trying to stay still on waking very much.
Something else to try!
Yeah, I think it's more of a mental thing than a physical thing. You need to train yourself to not move. Using something to restrict your movement will only be uncomfortable. But some physical cues can help. As above, a sleep mask blocks light. Without it, you may instinctively move to cover your eyes or open your eyes to light. I've also heard of wearing a bracelet or rubber band on your wrist, or a piece of tape around a finger. The slight unnatural feeling of pressure on your skin is a reminder to not move.

maybe just wear medieval armour, you'll be too heavy to move :D
