Rem Dreamer + Android (Calling Tech Users)

Hi guys, first post, just going to let my self be known.

I have an interesting idea for my Rem Dreamer. For those of you who have Android devices, hopefully some of you are relatively tech savy , I plan on using the audio cue on my Rem Dreamer as a signal into my cellphone which sits next to my bed. Pretty much my thinking is, wouldn't it be absolutely fantastic to be able to attend concerts to your favorite bands or musicians while in a dream? My thinking is you wont have to be lucid (although getting on stage and being part of Queen would be pretty cool), but you will still be able to listen to music while dreaming.

So the plan is, of course on the Rem Dreamer Pro (the version that I have), it has a 3.5mm audio jack which is used to output sound to a speaker. What I want to do is use that signal, to trigger an input into my cellphone's TRRS jack which should in theory allow me to integrate that signal into Tasker. If any of you have read up about Tasker, you would know that pretty much I would then have the ability to trigger pretty much anything when I am dreaming. The idea is that every time the mask detects rem, it will signal my cellphone which will then use Tasker (here is a demo for those who aren't familiar with it) to turn on real world stimulus in my room, over my speakers, and ultimately, even link up to my computer and log the rem triggers on Exel, play a live concert, or even relive lectures in a more interesting environment.

What are your thoughts, and do any tech/electronic savy people have any ideas of how I would go about wiring a 3.5 to TRRS jack or if it is even possible?

How's the Rem Dreamer Pro working out for you? Have you been able to successfully get its settings tweaked to give you notifications most nights? How long ago did you acquire it and how long have you been using it?

On the immediate question I'm not much of a hardware guy so can't help there, sorry.

Hi FryingMan. Well so far what it has done is cue me not enough, and the lights end up waking me up. Which I have used to fall back into a dream but then it triggered and woke me up. I got it last week, so I'm still tweaking it. I think its good just to wear it the whole night and not use any other methods with it. They just get in the way. I think it should be used as a method in and of itself. I know I can tweak the settings more but I feel like it is more of a positioning thing. I really need to get it in the right position and turn the sensitivity up. It's not as uncomfortable as most people say. To be honest I think it is worth it, if you can get in the habit of wearing it. Did you have one?

Hi thanks for your response. I have a remee, but I'm really interested in all dream tech for EILD purposes, and have been toying with the idea of getting a REM dreamer while waiting for devices like ND2, Aurora, Oneirics, etc. Remee has never gotten me lucid, not surprising since: 1) it has no REM detection, it works only on a timer; and 2) my sleep schedule is massively erratic. I wear remee a lot, and I think it can help with vivid dreams by keeping your sleep light. But I'm starting to suspect my settings are causing my sleep to deteriorate so I may stop them (I have it set to go off every 5 minutes with brightest light starting at 4.5 hours). Frequently it will wake me up around 5 hours.

I've only ever seen the lights 3 times in dreams in over 5 months of use and each time they really shocked me awake.

I'm used to the sensation of it, but unless the room is cool my face gets very hot and sweaty under it, it has poor air flow.

What I was wondering about the REM dreamer is does it give a lot of false signals (when you move your eyes but not in a dream), and have you noticed it in dreams?

Just one week is a short time, with these devices it can take a lot of dedicated experimentation to find what works best for you.

Ah I see. I did a lot of reading before I got it and made sure that I wasn't going to be buying something that didn't work.

I looked at getting a Reeme but if it doesn't signal you in rem I didn't see much point. I mean, I thought it would be hard enough to recognize the cues when they were in your dreams anyway. If I could be sure of it signaling me in rem then it was one less thing to worry about.

I don't find that it goes off at random times and wakes me up. You can set a timer so it only starts monitoring after x amount of minutes. Which I think is a great feature. If you wake up in the night you just hit a button and you can get back to sleep undisturbed. Also it doesn't really matter if it goes off during my non rem sleep because I am asleep. What matters is that it goes off during my rem sleep.
