Melatonin as an aid?
I've heard of people taking melatonin for vivid dreams. I only take it when necessary for example, if I can't get to bed and it's midnight and I don't use it that often. Do these people not understand about overdosing and it actually delays REM sleep?

I believe that due to delayed REM in the early parts of the night, you get much more vivid and lengthy REM later in the night. Optimal for lucid dreaming

People take melatonin for that exact reason, to suppress REM sleep. When you suppress REM sleep for a prolonged period of time you create an affect called REM rebound which gives you a more intensified REM cycle. I personally find my dreams to be longer and more vivid after taking melatonin.
