      Effects of Mugwort

      Has anyone tried Mugwort tea for attaining lucidity or other forms of using Mugwort to gain consciousness in dreams? If so, how did you use it and how effective was it for you?

      I have tried mugwort a few times, I've never noticed much of an effect. Wormwood however I find gives me really wild and bizarre dreams, sometimes resulting in lucidity

      I have also tried mugwort several times (as a tea) and noticed nothing. I often hear of people using mugwort pillows, but I'm not sure how this would help. The smell if mugwort is quite powerful though, so maybe that has something to do with it?

      I've tried a mugwort pillow, mugwort tea, and smoking mugwort.
      I haven't noticed it having any effects on my dreams so far, in terms of lucidity, vividness or recall.
      I haven't experimented enough to write it off yet, but it's definitely not highly/instantly effective for me.
      My housemate and fellow DV member, Jenkees, has tried the same methods without any noticeable effects either.
      One factor could be the freshness of the mugwort, since we didn't use it immediately after we bought it.
      We've tried 2 separate batches though, with no significant results from either.

      It is conceivable that mugwort only benefits those with as yet undeveloped dream recall.

      I have tried mugwort in a few occasions and through some different methods.

      First time I tried it as a tea, I was already fairly experienced with lucid dreaming but I was having a dry spell. Managed to get lucid that night but I would probably say it was due to expectation and placebo effect. When I tried it later as a tea I didn't have much success.

      I then made a tincture (in alcohol) of it which also didn't lead to any lucid dreams.

      At a later point I saw a mugwort plant somewhere and took a leaf of it which I put under my pillow. That night I had a lucid dream. May also have been due o expectation and placebo.

      In general mugwort produces longer rem periods for me where it feels like I have had so many more different dreams at night having slept the same amount of time I usually sleep. I also had more bizarre dreams as many describe but rarely were they the cause of my lucidity. But pretty fun to have anyways. I don't recall any improvements on the vividness of mugwort dreams for me.

      Picked my own mugwort just before the buds started to flower in July.

      I made a tea by steeping some of the leaves in hot water. After 10 minutes or so I drank the tea and ingested most of the leaves post-wbtb.
      On occasions I did have a little more increase in overall dream recall, including a couple of 'tactile' dreams (one sexual,) along with slight awareness, and a couple or so DILDS.

      (I took/used mugwort more than half a dozen or so times at least, plus a bag of leaves were in my bedroom nearby, on occasions during the summer.)

      I will probably make a few more brews I think.


      P.S. Mugwort tea should be avoided by pregnant women as it is an abortifacient.

      I have read somewhere that Mugwort can build up in your system, which also may lessen its effectiveness and it's recommended to stop taking it for about a week, then try it again.

      sweetsmokeherbs mentioned that smoking it and drinking it as a tea before bed can enhance its effects. I tried it as tea for the first time last night but don't really remember my dream. From what I do remember, it didn't seem any different than a typical dream of mine. I didn't brew the tea very strong at all, so that may have had something to do with the results. I also tend to get up and move around too much when I wake up before writing anything down and it escapes my memory

      Also forgot to add that mugwort also usually makes me more sleepy when I wake in the morning so it is easier to get back to sleep.

      I can report this effect as well; took on a short WBTB, and had the worst morning, lol. Felt completely exhausted. Didn't get enough sleep but I think the mugwort tea made it worse.
