Not So Great News about my REM Dreamer experience

      Hi Guys.

Seems i have more recall without using the REM dreamer. The REM dreamer is just too bulky and also i find it it's always off my face when i wake up.

Now i feel i rather go back to the REMEE(which i have too) cause that's comfortable . And don't rely entirely on it but practice dream recall and lucid dreaming techniques and just use the REMEE as an extra boost.

But yeah i'm kind of disaippointed at the REM Dreamer. i used it for weeks now and i don't see any lights in my dreams and i don't hear any sounds in my dream( even though i have my recording recorded and it plays)

and also i don't really understand cause the flashes and sound keep playing every 10 minutes after the time delay yet it's hard to understand why if there's so many of those (after the REM begins) why is it i don't get any of that merge into my dreams.

Even things like basic alarm or me wanting to pee in real life are some things that make their way into my dreams somehow. Yet with the REM Dreamer, not the Flashing lights NOR the recording make their way into my dreams.

I have the lights at a good brightness and the audio level at a good level too.

      Here's how it works.

So i set the Delay to 4:30 hours after i go to sleep . After that it should start checking if i go into REM. And when it does.. then it starts giving you cues every 10 minutes. SO you would think that since you'll get many of those that at least something would make it into your dreams. but nop. hasn't happened in any way shape or form. Only the first time i used it i got something like a lucid dream but probably wasn't from the REM Dreamer. Although at first i thought it was due to the REM Dreamer.

LIke i said, part of the reason it might not be working is cause it falls off.

ANd then, to keep the thing secured on my head i have to tighten it hard...and then when i wake up i have red marks around my nose and soreness. from the device(mother board) pressing against my nose bone and cheeks.

So yeah like i said. I might still use the REM Dreamer some days once in a while but for the most part i'm gonna use the comfortable REMEE and just stick to natural lucid dreaming practice

I have been using my RD for about 6 years (some periods with huge off periods between).
I have just ordered the latest version that I Will receive soon.
I will come back to you later but this is a first advice:
Don't put it at bed time with a huge delay .
You should rather put it after a WBTB.
Question : what about your personnal setings ? (sensitivity, lenght and frequency of flashes; twc mode and so on)

Oh put it on WBTB? so WBTB and set delay to 1 hour? instead of putting the mask on at 11pm and setting delay for 4:30 hours?

      My settings are
      Delay 4:30 ( sleep 11pm)
      Flahs Bright 7/9
      Sound Volume 5/9
      Cue length 0.10 sec
      Cue Frequen 2/sec
Length of SEries of Cues 2 seconds
      DreamAlarm off
      TWC Off
      REM detector SEnsitivity 8/9
      Message Volume 7/8

I don't really know much about how to set the settings. i just left them as they were.
The only ones i changed from the original settings are Message volume, Sound Volume and Brighteness
The Cue Frequency etc..i dont really know how to set so i don't mess with that.

So Back to what you said "Don't put it at bed time with huge delay"
So then you're saying wake up like 4.5 through some alarm(phone etc) and then get up and then prepare the Mask with a delay of like 1 hour and then go back to sleep?

      And that will work better!?

a quick answer (I will tell more after having received and experimented whith the new rem dreamer pro version).

Oh put it on WBTB? so WBTB and set delay to 1 hour? instead of putting the mask on at 11pm and setting delay for 4:30 hours?
      yeah, something like that.

About settings, you have to consider the Rem-Dreamer as a mini dream labo, not something that will trigger LD at will by simply putting it and using the factory presets.
So you have to try many kind of settings, and will have to take a close look to the user notice and make your own settings.
Methodology and a kind of scientific/experimental approach is required to have success with this kind of tool.
Remember : it is only a tool
Cleverly used, you can have many success like the neuroengineer steve poter says in his Review :
      http://www.amazon.com/review/R2MRYCOEBQ8UP5

This device is truly amazing. I am someone who occasionally has a lucid dream, but this REM Dreamer PRO triggered four of them the first night I used it. Yes, it is not a typical polished commercial device, but it is very well made in its unique, geeky way. It is made from comfortable foam with a fleecy layer on it, black soft canvas and an elastic band with velcro adjustment. The canvas forms a pocket carrying the PCB (printed circuit board) with a microprocessor, two button batteries, a couple small speakers, a microphone, eye movement sensors, and bright red LEDs to cue you during a dream. The PRO version has a little speaker you can velcro to the strap by your ear and program any message you want, like "Hey Steve, this is a DREAM!" triggered by your rapid eye movements (REMs), which occur when you are having vivid dreams. It comes with a detailed manual (36 pages, but small ones) that has the good advice to go read Stephen LeBerge's books on Lucid Dreaming. But they do summarize the important points that you will need to get started if you are not familiar with MILD, or mnemonic-induced lucid dreaming. It has 16 menus (and a tiny LCD that scrolls the relevant info) where you can adjust almost anything about how it triggers you to notice you are dreaming, while you are dreaming. The Reality Tester button can be used to check if you are merely dreaming about wearing your REM Dreamer device, or awake and using it for real. It also doubles as a timer that adds 10 minutes per press to the time when it begins looking for REM of your eyes under the lids, via its IR sensor. This will reduce the distracting false triggers that may otherwise happen when you are still trying to fall asleep. The most cool feature ever, though, which I am not worthy of trying out yet, is TWC feature, off by default. It stands for Two-Way Communication, and refers to being able to signal to the device WHILE YOU ARE DREAMING by moving your eyes a certain way, to tell it to stop increasing the intensity of the lucidity-inducing cues. LaBerge himself invented this idea, but he used electromyograms on his arms or eyes to signal to the outside world. You can do it just with a fancy IR sensing blindfold! BTW, you can see out the bottom of the blindfold, so trips to the bathroom at night do not require removing it. If you are wondering, "Why would I want to have more lucid dreams?" you can read LaBerge. You can feel the awesome power and confidence that comes with being able to do pretty much anything you want. That feeling (for me) almost always leaks into my day. Sometimes, I have used lucid dreaming to practice something like hang gliding, or to have a difficult conversation with a loved one or co-worker. Your imagination is the limit. Dreams are free and a relatively safe form of entertainment. Its creators, Pawel Herchel and Steve Tibbetts have really put a lot of thought into this device and its manual. If you don't like gadgets and routinely lose your manuals, this is probably not for you. But if you want to become a Pro oneironaut (explorer of the dream world), this is DEFINITELY for you.

up to now, this new RD pro seams to do the job for me.
The very first time I used it I had got several LDs, WILD, DILD and DEILD
I did a proper attempt this night and had another couple of LDs, about the same way.
Sometimes the RD wakes me up from a LD, but I record a very short vocal message, and I use only two short flashes with one second between each, so I can easily go back to LD.
I must admit I also use LD supplements so I don't know yet if the RD pro alone will work but I will know that soon, when I'll use it without any LD supplements.
I program and put the RD only while the WBTB, 4h after bed time, and I set a delay to let me sleep 2 other hours.

      my settings are:

Recorded vocal message "Pascal, Es tu dans un Reve?" means : Pascal are you dreaming?
      Flash Brightness : 9/9
      Sound Volume : 0/9
      Cue Length 0,10 sec
      Cue Frequency : 1/sec
Length of Series : 2 sec
      DreamAlarm : Off
      TWC: Off
      RemDetector sensibility : 6/9
      Generated Series : 10
      Message Volume: 1/8
