Hadn't even considered this before, but it's the most consistent biological response to REM. Makes perfect sense to use it.

Edit: ABORT! ABORT! This is made by the Luci people. I'd avoid backing it maybe wait for a consumer release if that ever happens.
Regardless, it is a good *idea*.

There are barely any studies, but I think there is some data suggesting a physiological sexual response also occurs in women during REM.

Still, the matter here is not so much the analysis of REM sleep - otherwise we'd have reliable ways to induce lucidity in proper labs - as much as it's the difficulty of DEILD: the incorporation of the stimulus is much harder than what we'd expect...I'd go as far to bet that even if DEILD got popularized, we'd see much better results if you incorporated DILD practices oriented towards cue-association, like reality checks.

Using conductive rubber is another idea. I'm suprised that guy isn't going down that route, unless he is allergic.

Yep, it does, just would be harder to detect.

Fair point, I think it just takes getting used to the stimulus. You have to remember to be aware of it, which would hopefully make you notice it while dreaming.

I had thought of some ways to do it, but I've never built anything electronic before.
I wouldn't want to start with something I'm putting on my dick....
It could be as simple as having a wire on a non-conductive, stretchable ring of some sort, which will only make a complete circuit once you get hard and it moves and makes contact the speaker wire (which would be stationary) or whatever.

      Crappy paint drawing incoming....

I've had a few sexual dreams over the years (even wet), and never did I actually wake with a hard on, you release extra semen while flaccid. A real world physical stimulation on the penis is a kill switch. There is no way in hell something is going to vibrate you down there for real and not jar you awake. I came up with a deild technique involving vibrations on your foot during rem, and it mostly jars you awake. If something as insensitive as the sole of a foot is jarring, what the hell do you think the most sensitive organ on your whole body will do? Pathetic. I expect nothing more from these "insta lucid" devices. Lets name it something more honest while were at it, COCKREM you won't have a lucid but at least your dick will be hard.

Dang, chill out man. There's a reason it's only an idea at the moment.

      Here's a DIY version: https://luciddreamart.wordpress.com/...y-npt-dreamer/.

I'd just wrap a weakly connected cable around, with some form of protection of course... something like this:

But I'm not sure how my wife would feel about it, so I will leave this one up to the braver souls.

Few weeks ago I spoke about an idea I had for an easy REM detection, more precisely how we can know that we just woke up from a REM phase virtually still "ON"
      http://www.dreamviews.com/beyond-dre...ml#post2158813

If you train yourself to notice this REM sleep synchronized phenomenon when you wake up, you'll know that you where just in a REM window.
Maybe that if you are STILL on erection, it means that the virtual REM window is still open and that you have good chance to re-enter in a dream by starting the Raduga's cycles.
Then I pointed out the fact that there was a recent kickstarter project using this phenomenon to induce LD.
      http://www.dreamviews.com/beyond-dre...ml#post2159649

I was speaking about using Nocturnal Penile Tumescence (NPT) to detect REM and so to know which micro awakening is good to try the technique.
Well, there is a new kickstarter project using this stuff :
      ***Link Removed***

the creator of this project is the creator of the project LUCI, that has been canceled because it was suspected by the backers to be a fake.

There also is a patent using the NPT for REM detection for a LD purpose here:
Patent US20100130813 - Method and apparatus for attaining lucid dream state - Google Patents
      the owner is
      Dmitri Dozortsev
I think this is a good way to detect REM sleep, as well as virtual REM when we are just awake, but I agree with the idea that REM detection is not what needs the most of research and development.
The real issue is the stimulus integrations in the dream scenario.

I have been using LD devices for a long time : more than 20 years.
From the Nova Dreamer to the Rem Dreamer (I have two versions of the RD) and if sometimes it works, most of the time the light/beeps/audio sounds and even vibrations (I also experiment with Gimboss vibrating alarm) are smartly integrated in the dream scenario, or even not noticed at all, in such a way than if it doesn't wake me up, I just don't notice it.

This night, once again, I received pleinty of beeping alarms at the end of the TWC mode (an series of increasing sets of flashing clues, and the two last sets contain beeps), and I have been awoken several times by the beeping series.
I didn't notice any visual clues prior to the audio ones.

I don't really expect to reach any DILD with these devices I own (even if it can work), but I do expect them to help me with WILD and DEILD purpose, as it is a good way to wake me up when I have been in REM stage for few minutes.
The only stuff I have to fix is the question :"what do I exactly have to do when I have been awoken from a REM stage if I want to WILD/DEILD?"

So, about this NPT project, the REM detection process seams legit, but the audio part must be smart enough.
Non the less, it could be a good WILD/DEILD help if it can wake you up few minutes after it has detected a REM stage.

Probably quite shocked if you forget to take it off

Seeing as my dick doesn't get any use anyway, I might try a DIY version if I get time.

That's a good point. Any good REM detection is okay, as long as it detects at/near the start so you can wake up and WILD.
Doesn't necessarily have to integrate in to dreams. Although it may offer more restful sleep if you don't have to keep waking up. But it seems it's just too difficult. And waking up for a few minutes shouldn't be too bad, as long as you can get back to sleep fairly easy. Which shouldn't be hard in an REM phase.

I see it's not to "vibrate" you awake, that's what I thought they were doing XD. Never mind. I still wouldn't trust them with their other kickstarter canceled after being shown to be a scam by one of the backers.
