Induce lucid dreams with a smartphone

Hello! I'm new to this forum and I want to share my findings on a project I've been working on for a while.

In theory, WILD technique focuses on being aware and awake while shifting in the "dream state".
I knew that Thomas Edison used to hold steel balls in his hand so when the body starts relaxing they would fall to the ground, making a loud noise and waking him while being in a transitional state.

I transformed this idea with WILD technique, but with a smartphone and an app.
Basically, these are the steps to hopefully induce a lucid dream:

1) Go to sleep and keep your phone up with the hand
2) When you start relaxing your muscles you will naturally drop the phone
3) The app detects this fall and starts playing an alarm sound

What do you think of my idea? Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!

I heard of similar technique but instead you have to bend your elbow in bed at 90 degrees so that your forearm points upwards.

When you start to fall asleep your forearm will fall down and jolt u back awake, then u reposition it back at 90 degrees again and repeat process till eventually arm falls but u end up in sleep paralysis or lucid dream itself

I never heard of those tasks.. Where did you say you have heard of these Techniques?

Are you talking about WILD? It's Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming. Basically, the main goal is to start dreaming while being awake. So you will experience sleep paralysis and hypnagogia, search "Mind awake body asleep" to learn more.
I think this method is the hardest but the most successful if mastered, that's why I'm trying to facilitate this technique as a software developer.

No, I know what WILD and DILD are. Btw... It's actually Wake Initiated Lucid Dream and Not Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming.
I was talking to MisakaMikoto about the Elbow Technique. I don't know where that came from.

Also with this lucid Aid.... When you use these type of lucid Aid please don't forget to do the other work that comes with lucid dreaming. Don't just realy on the smartphone its self...

Personally, I wouldn't use that but, that is my Opinion.

I've heard of the elbow technique. I think it was in a book about WILDs/astral projection by Robert Bruce. I haven't tried it yet, though. It sounds very uncomfortable.

About your app. I've used a vibrating thing (called a 'Motivaider') to initiate lucidity before. It makes a small noise as it vibrates, but very very discreet. It's perfect for daytime practice, but fails more often than not at night. It made me lucid once, but has woken me up many times. I see the same thing happening with an alarm, but even more so because it's not discreet. The chances of inducing lucidity will be much lower than the chances of just waking up to the noise.

I would steer clear of noise and use very light vibrations or visuals instead. It seems to me like noise is more likely to cause waking than visuals or vibrations. I think is because we're designed/evolved to wake up to potential threats at night, which would not be through visuals first, but rather, hearing.
