Hey co-dreamers, I have tried falling asleep with Music on before but always at some point seemed to lose focus of the sound and fade into a deep sleep. I was trying to keep my attention on the Music as I fell asleep: but this proved to be rediculously hard as the ''Fading moment'' comes very suddenly and unexpcted and always catches you off guard.

I recently took one of my Favourite Atmospheric music: Mars Brothers by Cujo (A.K.A. Amon Tobin; wonderfull artist)
and exported the MP3 file into my simple audo-editting program Audacity. I selected my Favourite part of the song, the ''mysterious part'', and I cut off all the rest of the Music. I made it so that it only plays that entrancing part and does so seamlessly over and over again if you play it in Repeat mode.

It's a kind of Melodic sound that is so Mystifying that it Grabs your attention. I think such a repeataive mystical sound should be a much better auditory impulse to focus your attention on.
I wish to upload this Looped MP3 but I need an easy, free and no member-requirement MP3 uploading site. So if anyone can help me with that?

If any of you know such music that grabs your attention in a mysterious way, while not just playing loud and hard beats, please let me know. Maybe you can make such an edit of the song as I did with Mars Brothers.

      Here it is:
      Mars Brothers - Cujo

Remember to put it on Repeat as I looped it to Repeat into Eternity. Enjoy.

I liked it, it's very easy to listen to. But it has parts that keep your attention, i tried it last night only to instantaneously fall asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow..
I'll try your again and I might make a couple of my own, and see how they work!

Tangerine Dream, The Alan Parson's Project, Yes, and The Moody BLues are great bands to listen to falling asleep.

I've tried falling asleep to mystifying music before, especially GOA, but it can't seem to continuously attract my attention. Usually in every song I like there's ONE PART that makes the song a great song. So that's why I took a really mystical song, Imported the MP3 into audacity and cut off everything BUT the most inspiring, attention demanding part. That part I looped. So feel free to do the same with your favourite songs.

For me the most Mystifying Musical artist is Amon Tobin ( Formerly known as: Cujo )
Try finding some of his music. It's really great.

PS: Malte, what's that movie, Solaris, you mentioned. What about it? Can you link me to sites with references and info on it? I, off COURSE, love Movies with Dream-themes such as Waking Life. I suggest that any Dreamer that hasn't seen Waking Life yet, goes and See the movie ASAP. Really inspiring.

I love going to sleep to any ambient music. It seems to take me to happy, peaceful places.

There's a really cool tool out there called Sounder that generates ambient music based on boxes with things bouncing around in them. The boxes can be resized, the things can have a wild variety of sonic properties and be assigned chords and/or tones, and the number of boxes whatever you wish. A demo can be had from http://www.sounder.com - and it's like $20 US to buy it. You don't need any musical skills to use it!

Of course! Im sorry, I didnt do so in the first reply!

Well, its originally a novel by a polish sci-fi-writer called Stanislaw Lem (who by the way wrote kind of different sci-fi). Then Andrej Tarkovskij directed a film pretty much by the book, in his Tarkovskijmanner. Then again Steven Soderbergh made his version of it in 2002, with George Clooney, and my (since I saw this film) all time favourite woman actor, Natascha McElhone. I saw the newest film first, and the Tarkovskij version a while ago, but havent read the novel.

But I definitely like the 2002 film the most, though its been accused of just being a simple love story and far from the original story written by Lem, I think it has a much bigger feeling spectrum than the old film, which is, of course, since being Tarkovskij, a little slowpaced and thus more difficult to appreciate. But I will try it again soon, maybe just to hear those special sounds, because they are very interesting too. But in the new one, the dream sequences are enhanced and as I said, theres much more feelings and general weirdness which I think will fall in your taste, SKA

This film is definitely worth seeing, for anyone, and the soundtrack too, youll get it soomehow
Very interesting thoughts circle your mind while seeing it, or you can just go numb and enjoy the wonderful feeling of it all.

PS. Ive been listening to your mysterious loop for almost an hour now, and have completely disappeared in the soundscape. Very nicely done. Will get some more of this Amon Tobin/Cujo. DS

BTW Got my hands on Adventures in foam, and it was very, very nice
Too bad he hasnt done anything else as Cujo though.
If you like that, you should really listen to some DJ Krush, very soothing hiphop/ambientish stuff.
