Is it possible to play an audio tape while you're sleeping and hear the recording? Something like "you are dreaming right now" and that makes you lucid? I've heard of something like that and wanted to know if it was possible.

I use the special Eight Hour CD from http://www.lucid-dreaming-kit.com/ and have had two LDs from it since using it for the last few weeks. I find the other recordings too jarring and distracting.

But its only for if you feel like dropping 40 bucks on a CD, I'm in the brief window of my life where I have to find a job to pay for car insurance, but am still getting regular gifts of money from my grandma, so I sprung for it while I still could

You would think that it would be possible to hear something like "you are dreaming right now" while you are sleeping, and that it would cause you to become lucid. But in my experience with trying this, and I listen to suggestions like this every night when I sleep, I always misunderstand what is being said when I am sleeping and think that something else was said.

I've even used my name "Iadr, you are dreaming, you are dreaming, you are dreaming", and my name does not even register to me while I am in the dream state, as I misunderstand it, and think that something else was said.

That said, I still think it might be useful to listen to suggestions while you sleep, and I still do it, although I think that some suggestions work better than others.

One suggestion that seems to work for me is dream recall, telling myself that I will remember my dreams, while one suggestion that does not seem to work is telling myself that I will become lucid in my dreams.

I think that listening to suggestions while in a deep state of relaxation or self hypnosis would probably have a better chance of getting into a persons subconscious mind, than suggestions listened to while asleep. At least for me that seems to be the case.

Anyone else had any experience with this?

      I find that humorous

This is a very common experience, many are not able to understand the phrases while dreaming. I have mixed results when trying AILD (Audio induced lucid dreaming).
