Concerning the Bradley Thompson's lucid dreaming kit

I was thinking of getting it just to see how it was and then return it if it was lame. One reason is to see if it would work on my brother because he has NEVER had a lucid dream. And to see if theres any cool tidbits I could use.

For those of you that bought the kit and didn't like it, were you able to return it like it said? Because i saw this other thread here that said it was garbage, and a scam or something, but according to siteadvisor it was safe and I've seen various reviews by people who had success with it when I searched google...so I'm kinda confused...but I really want to check it out and be assured that I CAN return it without them not responding and crap

A more accurate explanation of LD than the LDkit and a complete review

Ok let's give a review about that program.

I have enough about the 'I want to know it too's. 'I can't wait for the results'. 'I just ordered my one' and so on without some answers that are helpful for someone looking for information about a product.

      First the positives:
      - the regularity: each day you read one or two pages, it is indicated to read in the morning or evening. Each day you record your dreams and are guided step by step to try something new. You get primed for lucid dreaming.
      - the visual and audio presentations: The site, the screen saver and the audio CD are really beautiful, the CD is very good for relaxation but the piano music disturbs me and prevents me from falling asleep (I am a musical type and always listen to music)
      - If you keep the routine than you are definite to experience a kind of lucid dream and more to come.
      - Bradley has a very nice sounding deep voice.
      - It can be a good introduction for complete beginners who have never heard of Lucid dreaming before and don't know ANYTHING about it.

      Now the negatives:

First the hype and "The Secret" sales tactics.

"Here is the INCREDIBLE TRUTH behind Lucid Dreaming" (there we go again, there is again ONE thing left out and this site has the answer)
"Millions of People have tried Lucid Dreaming and FAILED" (When you buy our
product you are not going to be one of those millions)
"Because there's a SECRET to getting started." (People love secrets...)
"The 90 minute technique that increases your changes to have a lucid dream by 2000%!! (Why not 5000%, what that be too much?)

Bradley Thomson claims that most people approach the topic from the wrong angle. Nice marketing strategy and I would say that in many cases that's true, his kit however included!

It is certainly not the case that when you get 'lucid' in a dream that suddenly you are 100% aware and completely in control and of course want to bring your own sexual fantasies in to fantastic 3D reality (another great marketing trick to pull people in)

If something of this would happen to a beginner then it is a free ticket into the LD world and doesn't guarantee a repetition.

In reality there are different states (or grades) of consciousness, which on their part can be divided again into different 'substates' of consciousness.

The same for Lucid dreaming. To simplify a bit: one state is partial awareness that you are dreaming but no control, then there is full awareness but only partial control, after that full awareness and full control.

Of course those things are not included in the marketing stuff. After the LD kit came on the market another CD they offered on their site called "Conscious dreaming" which was more accurate and realistic was removed. Interesting...

What really happens is that you start to have a kind of increased awareness that copied itself from the waking life into the dream life.

Often it begins with more vivid dreams and flying dreams where you for example take control of the flying process but let's say for 50% know you are dreaming but for the other 50% not. And there are still coming up many unprecedented things that either wake you up or bring you back in 100% dreaming state.

So these heightened states are only very short after which you fall back in normal dreaming of course 100% sure that this is reality (you do that in your waking life too, remember?)

With regard to reality checking I am not a big fan of it. Instead of this "Am I dreaming?" ('Of course I am not dreaming!') much better is asking "How can I be so sure I am not dreaming" during the day (for example each hour) and even better BE AS MUCH AS CONSCIOUS AND FULLY PRESENT AS YOU CAN during as many activities during the day possible!! That will do it! Your awareness will just open itself during one of your near the morning dreams.

So to sum up. A nice looking sales page and product. But in regard to the now big amount of very good information on dreaming forums information that is much more accurate with no hype and marketing tricks, and all for free I don't recommend the product (unless you are a complete beginner who hasn't a slightest clue of LD but in that case you probably aren't reading this).

Search at this and on other forums. Check out Saltcube.com where you can find great accurate and reliable resources too. Bye materials of Stephen LaBerge, meditate regularly (often causes flying dreams) and be consistent in practice.

      Space c.

      Excellent write up Space Cowboy.

I agree that this course could be valuable to someone who knows nothing about lucid dreaming, but I found nothing new in it that is not already contained on this site, despite all of the their incredible claims.

I did not have one single lucid dream from using their material, nor have I ever hear from anyone else who has been able to have the 1 lucid dream a week that they guarentee from their program.

However, I did like the CD, although I also could not get to sleep listening to it.

Why don't you just buy the course and see if they will let you return it Lonewolf?

Since I live in the U.S. it would have cost me more in postage and restocking fees to return it to Europe than it would have been worth. If you read their advertisement you will notice that they will charge you back for their shipping and handling costs if you return the product. In addition you will have to pay your own shipping charges of shipping it back.

They are a reputable company though, and they will send you the product. Just don't get your hopes up because it is not a miracle course like they would lead you to believe.

It's a shame they choose to engage in such deceptive advertising practices.

Space Cowboy...I just had an idea after reading your post that I may try. Since I was never able to get to sleep listening to that CD, I may try using it again just by adding 90 minutes of silence to the beginning of it so that it comes on during my rem cycle.

Thanks for the response. It was very helpful.

I planned on just seeing it and returning it. I actualy don't expect that it will be amazing or anything, and my brother wants to see if it'll work for him. I have gotten into the habit of buying ebooks online and then returning it...

But I'm confused it says, "100% FREE SHIPPING - NO shipping charges whatsoever, FREE to ANYWHERE in the world!" on their site and then down below it says if you are not satisfied they will give a 100% refund minus original S&H

well if they charge me S&H in that case I'm not going to bother, I dont think my mom will be thrilled

Perhaps what they mean is that shipping is free to you from them but, if you decide to return it, they won't reimburse you for the cost of shipping it back to them..
