      Proof that THC induces wakefulness

Cannabidiol (CBD), a contigent of Cananbis sativa, has been proven to be a wake-inducing agent. As this recent study shows, the substance stimulates activity in the lateral hypothalamus and dorsal raphe nuclei; primary bodies for waking the body. In addition, CBD decreases slow wave and REM sleep.

In relation to dreaming, the evidence shows that THC (marijuana) is a very ineffective tool for inducing lucid/dreams.

      What do you think...?

I'm not going to argue this, but I am confident that many would attack you on the "help" part.

You really sound confident in your claims, so I assume you must have much experience with weed? I mean, its not like you would just make up those claims based on zero experience right?

Anyway, in my experience, weed makes it a lot harder to remember your dreams, but it does make WILDing very fast and easy. Which in the end is pointless, if you're not going to remember it. If you smoke like once a month or once a week it doesn't really matter, but if you smoke regular, it will make it a lot harder to remember your dreams. I don't think lucid dreaming and smoking go together at all.

I've been saying that for a while before I looked at any studies. I noticed I was barely having any dreams or recall once I went hardcore and I was probably going way beyond heavy usage even so that was like the perfect example case study if you look at it like that. Plus I read studies already that said that but some of my friends and stuff try to argue it (ie. one showed 80-240mgs was greatly inhibiting REM sleep). Ya, it's obvious if you start using it alot you'll notice it.

Actually, that's why I kinda disappeared from this site for a month or two basically dream recall and lucids almost stopped.

Do you have another link to the article? You need to go to that University to access it.

Wow. I never thought of it that way.

So, you are saying I should chop off my legs with dull saw, because first-hand experience is completely necessary for understanding the pain and effects? And my opinion on getting your legs chopped off with a dull saw is completely void otherwise?

Tell me then, why doctors prescribe it for insomnia?
As for all you other people... THC can be used for more than you think. It is seriously the ultimate drug. Just to name a few: insomnia, depression, pain and who knows what else? America is just starting to figure that one out. Multiple studies also show it makes you drive better

Well that's funny. You have no experience with drugs, 'cause you say you don't do drugs, but you DO have an opinion about them. You must be one of the many people that have opinions about everything, but true knowledge about very little. There are tons of those people, unfortunately.

      Imo

IMO... I have been a marijuana user for years.. 8.. If I can still add correctly. In my experience with it I believe it depends on the person. Marijuana has many different effects on the mind. That also depends on the user. So in short, this will require experience in the matter to understand your own bodies effects whilwe using it. Many people that don't use it, don't know what it does to them. There are 100's if not 1000's of strains known to us now. Each one has it's own characteristic's. Some will make me want to run run a marathon or clean the maze of a garage. While others put me on the couch. Some rid back pain almost to a non-existant. While a bag of dried flowers from another source pronounciates the aches i've been having. Some will have me looking out the window everytime i hear a noise. While another has me ruffling a chip bag for an hour. It's always different though. It's amazing to see what an unaltered plant can do the the spirit, body and phsyce. Once people look past the hippies of the 60's they will see the benefits that can be obtained through something so simple. Think about never having to risk and ulcer because of your prescription meds. It's not about getting high for me anymore... It's about understanding how simple life is. How much you can enjoy the little things.... Sorry for my rant i'm all done. As for dreams.. Me i dream every night. I remember most of my dreams .. some better than others.. I've just recently become lucid. So I think if you try to remember you will. And i sleep like a baby I think i get my REM.

I tend to find I remember nothing of my dreams after a heavy night of smoking, but I'm not sure if that's not having the dreams or just memory loss.

when i would go to sleep whenever i smoked bud, i couldnt tell the difference between reality and my dreams, because it was so distorted, and it was actually really fun because you can think of anything your imagination takes you, and it seems like as if it were happening right in ur little mind! but i never recalled my dreams whenever i smoked weed and slept, because the substance causes short term memory loss.

Here's my two cents on the matter:
As for experience I have been using marijuana for nearly 15 years. I grew up with it, it was part of my family. These are the things I found it helped ME with over the years, providing it was of good quality: depression, anxiety, headaches and migraines!!, colds/coughing/congestion, nausea (including hangovers), not being able to sleep, not feeling like eating, helping me not be so uptight. I also noted the same differences among varieties, where some would induce laziness, others would lift me up and make chores actually more fun to accomplish.

It should also be noted that there are negative side affects of abusing marijuana. There is no need to constantly be 'high'. And I firmly believe if you are underage you shouldn't even go there for the simple fact that your brain is still growing and you really ought to let it progress naturally. It is a drug, like any drug wether legal or not and they can have their side-effects if not used properly or if used at an early age (they wouldn't give me an anti-depressant as a teen for fear of it messing with my brain development, and yes the marijuana did also have an effect on me as welll).

oh but on the actual topic, in my experience, I only ever noted lack of recalling if I had even dreamt when I smoked and then went right to bed, like if I had a headache. The help I got from falling asleep was more of a smoke and wait an hour or two, then I'd definately feel like sleeping.

I've had alot of vivid dreams after smoking Hashish.
I have found the effect of Hashish to differ significantly from the effects of Marijuana.
Allthough they're oth from the same plant and both contain THC, I've found Hash more of a mental/spiritual high with a subtile, meditative/mind-clearing nature whereas weed usually has the same properties, except weed is ALOT more sedative, even stupifying.

Only certain types of marijuana have high concentrations of CBD in it, though.

Cannabis can contain many different alkaloids that all have different effects.

In addition, I'm not sure this study is all that accurate. I know from personal experience that CBD and THC can help you sleep better and have some crazy dreams

Then you lie outside the statistical norm of the study. It is not saying 100% causation or cessation.
