      Cigarettes

Do they make a noticable difference, good or bad, to anyone's abilities to lucid dream? Whether smoked throughout the day, or smoked right before bed.

Just wondering if anyone has noticed a difference, or even waking up after 5-6 hours and then smoking a cigarette to increase chances of having a WILD.
For some reason I think I heard people maybe doing it a while ago..

i had a smoke before my first WILD last night and i got right up to the brink of an LD. that was without any previous sleep and being awake for around 20 or so hours. Also drank alot of coke. nicotine being a stimulant helped keep my brain going but i think smoking is more a mental stimulant than a physical one, which would be helpful im thinking..?

If you are a smoker, yes, they do help... Wake up at 5 hrs, smoke, then go back to bed. Oh man.

Nicotine mimics the effect of acetylcholine in the brain, which we think is a major chemical involved in the process of dreaming. Some people do notice a positive effect on dreaming after a smoke, yes, but I wouldn't recommend that a nonsmoker starts smoking to try to enhance their dreaming experience. We all know that nicotine is extremely addictive, and its effects on the respiratory and cardiovascular systems are harmful.

It's not nicotine itself that's bad; it's all the chemicals they put into the cigarettes to make you more addicted. My opinion is that the chemicals can affect your overall health to the point where they undo any benefit of the nicotine. But smoking pure tobacco or e-cigarettes should help in theory (they have a mildly positive effect on vividness for me).

I am..also chronic too, and Ive been having trouble remembering anything when im burning out when I go to sleep, so this might work. If I wake up after sleeping for 5 hours, I wont be high at all, and then Ill go for a smoke and see what happens.
