      God Helmet

Anyone own/tried one of these? http://www.shaktitechnology.com/wins...ting/index.htm

It's called a "God Helmet". I first saw it on a BBC doco "The Human Body". It's supposed to induce altered states of conciousness including OBE's. I think it's similare in effect to Binaural Beats but much stronger and more controlled.

I'm thinking of getting one to induce OBE's but they're a bit expensive so any feed back would be appreciated.

      Thanks

      OBE? Chakras?

I think I can hear a quiet voice saying beyond dreaming...
      Current projects:
      -Acquire the Aurora
      -Test galatamine, huperzine and choline
-Find smartwatch app for RC reminders at certain intervals
-Ressurect my dream log here, and become more active

I guess it depends on whether you clasify OBE as dreaming or not. The device is scientific....ie none of that chakra mumbo jumbo. That link is just a website that sells the device and they seem to associate it with more spiritual stuff but if you google God Helmet or look it up on Wiki you will see the science behind it, or check out this video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCVzz...eature=related

Looks like it could induce a lucid dream or OBE.

      OBE's aren't scientific.

According to our "friends" from Beyond Dreaming, OBE's are no ordinary dreams. They are "Out of Body Experieces".

To actually answer your question, no I haven't had the opportunity to try one of these helmets but I wonder if anyone has done any experimentation with it to attempt to induce lucidity during dreaming.

That said, I don't know much about the effect of magnetic fields on the brain but I wouldn't use myself as a guinea pig to experiment with this thing. I'd let scientists try it out first to determine first of all if it works, and second if it is safe.

$285 dollars seems a bit unnecessary for something you can do with just your body. No need to buy external devices.

Yeah it is pretty expensive but it might be the closest anyone has come to building a lucid dream inducing machine (aswell as other cool effects). I do agree that nothing can beat the sense of accomplishment and downright coolness of achieving LD's with nothing more than you're own body but I'm sure everyone would agree that it would be awsome to be able to just flick a switch in those times when our bodies fail us.

If you have a look at how the technology works, it does something like mapping out brain activity then programing it to be generated by the machine exactly the same way. Maybe all that's needed is for someone to do an extensive study/mapping of Lucid Dreamer's brain activity when they enter a lucid dream...Although I don't know all that much about Neuroscience so I could just be talking out my ass...

      Spirituality has no price.
Someone is trying to make alot of money by selling naïve people expensive crap with false promises.

Or is there actually anyone who can vouch for this device's effectiveness from personal experience? Cuz it's not like I'm anywhere near willing to pay $285 just to find out.

Enough plants that grow everywhere, that nature offers to us for free are excellent, tried and proven to be very effective inducers of spiritual experiences and facilitators in lucid & vivid dreaming.
I don't feel particulairly impressed by some questionable device with alot of lowly credible claims of it's wonderfull effects and happens to cost "only" $285...
Am I the only one who feels this way?

given the economy, doesn't sound like the best timing for selling a device like this... and certainly not at that price.

this product will probably have one of two things happen... it'll flop miserably (again, due to timing and price), or they'll have to lower the price. sometimes i'm astounded by how much a manufacturer will charge for something. if it's supply and demand, they're REALLY overestimating how many people are interested in stuff like this (like us.... there aren't a ton of us, relatively speaking).

      Drugs or hardware technology?

Actually, you are not supposed to sleep with it! Sessions only last up to 1 hour max. I have one of these devices and have consistent results with it so far (bought it Jan 2011). The science behind it quite extensive Publications by Dr M.A. Persinger .Personally, I feel more comfortable with this technology than using chemical substances which tend to modify receptor sites in your brain and or create habituation. I have used galantamine but it tends to wack me out the next day which makes me take it rather rarely nowadays.

Fascinating. Looks a good bit like pseudoscience to me, but interesting nonetheless. I'm not sure if they are claiming that the thing actually induces spiritual experiences (in which case it borders on the occult) or if they are defining "spiritual experiences" as a purely psychological phenomena (in which case they are using this device to attempt to prove materialism). Either way, it's weird enough to pique my curiosity.

This is about $$$. By selling 50 devices at 300$ from the website they can make over 10k$ a month (-manufacturing, advertising, etc). This is a very solid income for a niche market! I dont think a device like that is ready for mass market yet...

I've read an article about that not so long ago, the person described the experience as "seeing darkness". IMO smoke some Salvia Divinorum if you want intense spiritual experiences. That drug at least has a history of human use. There was a time a while back when I would've considered something like that, but not anymore...
