DIY dream machine/goggles anything of the sorts

anyone have plans on some goggles/glass's or a dream machine to help induce lucid's during the REM cycle. I was thinking 12v leds with flasher circuits, on a pair of glass's or eye cover, powered by a 12v wall adapter, that hooks into a time all, wall timer so i could set to turn on after 5 hours. any ideas/plans would be great, thanks

I made a simple one out of a pill timer (I like that it's kinda bulky, makes it easier to find and use in the dark), like this one I got for $5 at wally world or somewhere (radio shack, maybe?). Runs on a couple of AA batteries. I disconnected the little speaker and ran a scavenged power cord to a couple of red LED's, which I sewed into a sleep mask. Crude, but it makes it so you can set the timer to go off in however long you want (like, say 5 hours). Oh, and I think I put in a potentiometer to make the lights brighter or dimmer.

The downside is that when it goes off, it "beeps" (leds flash) for about 30 seconds. You can't change that. Then it goes off every 15 minutes until you reset it, which works out pretty good for dreaming. I have gotten a few cues from it over the years (saw flashing in my dream), but never a lucid dream because the flashing just keeps going on and on (30 seconds seems like a long time), and I wake up. It does make me consider shelling out the bucks for a real one, though, that detects REM, and can be set to stop flashing at a certain number).

This is a good $10 option, though, if you can solder together a couple of wires.

the pill timer is something like this (mine looks different): http://cgi.ebay.com/New-LCD-4-Square...item2a0414bcf5

the sleep mask is an ordinary one, found everywhere: http://www.amazon.com/AquaBella-Slum...3951359&sr=1-6

thanks for the help, the timer I'm using is silent, its a wall timer that my brother had used to turn on his air conditioners, so that they would come on before he got home from work. So i kinda thought it would be good for this.
