      NovaDreamer 2?

Okay all... First, this is my second post but this won't be as long or boring as the other

As I was typing this the similar thread pop up suggested threads already dealing with the nova dreamer, however not exactly what I was looking for, and the last posts were months if not years ago.

Sooooo, anyway, I'm curious if anyone has heard anything new about the Nova Dreamer 2. I know the first one was canceled five-ish years ago but you can still buy them, but beyond knowing that the second one was due in 09 sometime and that it actually exists, that's all I could find on google.

So I'm assuming anyway that this would be a good place to start for anyone who has any information on the ND2. Thanks in advance.

The new ND2 will first be offered for sale in March, 2010 to participants at the Kalani Dream camp. I believe the ND2 will formally go on sale in May, 2010

thats what Scot said so we will see

Cool, thanks for the info... I googled the hell out the ND2 and really found little to nothing. I was more surprised than disappointed.

I hear the new ND will have interactivity, the mask interpreting control eye movements from the dreamer, and also computer connectivity. This is a whole new ball game; add a website controller program that communicates with the computers of many dreamers and you have multi-player lucid dreaming. Very rudimentary, sure, but still exciting.

It will be interesting to see the results. I can't imagine the "multiplayer" lucid dreaming being very effective - how could the computer relay the other user's interactions? As flashing lights or soft tones? Rudimentary is definitely the right word.

      Still curious though

have to start somewhere; We are at the point with inter-dream communication that Alexander Bell was when he spoke “Mister Watson, come here! I need you!" And we saw where that led.

As per shifts link - you dont need to spend 800-1000$

The REM DReamer Pro has been available for a while with the 2 way control feature. And it works very well. It also has a computer interface which makes it way easier to program and check the number of times it "fired" during the night.

Connecting a bunch of users together just sounds like a load of bollocks - whats the point?

REM Dreamer Pro works fine and costs a third less.

just for fun like many things in life . . .

Here are a few scenarios that could be fun for dreamers in a multi-player environment:

      1. Two players register and log onto the LD multi-player website, selecting the other player to communicate with that night and which player is to be the guide player (first dreamer cued). The respective local LD programs monitor the eye movements during the sleep of the players and upon REM detection send a message to the website that the respective dreamer is in REM; the website host program waits for both players to reach REM, then the host sends a command to the local LD software to signal the guide dreamer via audio/visual cue that she is dreaming. When (if) she becomes lucid, this lucid dreamer now signals (via eye movement) the mask/program to stop cueing and, in addition, send a message to the host program to notify the other dreamer that he is dreaming by audio/visual cue (could even be a pre-recorded audio cue in the guide’s own voice). The signal to the recipient’s to become lucid is now coming directly from the guide dreamer and may carry more meaning than a neutral cue (and lots more fun). For those folks with an interest in mutual dreaming, this may prove also to be a useful initiator for such a dream, coordinating the timing for lucid dream sharing.

      2. A lucid dream race: players log on and join the race, then go to sleep. The host site waits until all the respective LD local programs indicate REM state for all the players (hopefully at some point all REM’s coincide). The host site sends commands to all the local programs to cue all the dreamers more or less at the same time. The dreamers, upon becoming lucid, signal to stop the cue and, in addition, send a message to the host site that they are lucid. The winner of the race is recorded on the host site and the players can view the results--just for fun, of course, but competition can have a strong motivational effect, as many psychologists know.

      3. This multi-player scenario would require a mask with various colored lights or audio cues and dreamer feedback variability. The dreamers, upon both becoming lucid, signal different eye movements to the other dreamer (via the local LD programs’ connection to the host website) which result in varied cues, the meaning of which is agreed upon beforehand when the players register for this ‘game.’ A “hello” signal from one dreamer can result in a ‘blue’ cue to the other; an “I am flying” signal from the other dreamer could result in a ‘yellow’ cue to the first, and so on. Audio messages could be used as well.

      4. Masks or other cuing devices with multiple cuing options such as varied colors could also be used to enable more than two dreamers to send messages to the entire group in the same session. Dreamers sign up for the night’s session and assign themselves a color cue or audio cue. As the dreamers become lucid, the host software sends that dreamer’s cue sign to the rest of the group. A dreamer, for example, recognizes the ‘red’ cue as “Mike has just joined us” and the ‘blue’ cue as “Sally’s lucid now too.”

How many of us have that kind of money to burn?really! - though i guess it depends.

would YOU spend (say) $900 if you KNEW - guaranteed - that within (say) one month, you could have lucid dreams any time you wanted? from then on?

This thing has been in delayed development forever. Combined with the huge price tag, I have a bad feeling that they are trying to pack too much into it. We will see. Maybe it will be earth-shakingly fantastic. I'm not holding my breath.

I always thought... If someone was wearing the mask and the lights and/or sounds made them Lucid, wouldn't the lights and sounds continue to play and anoy them throughout there LD, because they still have REM so that would continue to trigger the sounds/lights... unless there on a timer or something?
Oh and the REM-Dreamer costs about 240 Aus $$

The REM Dreamer pro has this awesome feature that allows the dreamer to shut the device off after becoming Lucid, by using eye signals.

I don't have one myself, I just read about it. I think it would be fun to play with. But seeing as I can already induce Lucid Dreams, the heavy price tag on these devices is hardly worth the small amount of novelty they would provide. I wish I knew somebody that had one though, so I could borrow it for a little while and see what it's like.

Has anyone heard anymore about the ND2 since the Kalani Retreat was held on March 10 - March 19?

I love my Nova Dreamer, to me EILD is the way to go! I have always gotten very poor results from the other "natural" methods of induction but with the ND I can usually just start sleeping with it on and in about 2 weeks I am having lucid dreams again, with little effort. In my latest dream journal ( The Oneironomicon ), I had a lucid dream on the fifth night. The first three nights I spent just messing with the settings.

Anyway, my ND is getting old and I was wondering what I should do if it breaks or just wears out (it is starting to look pretty worn already). I had heard about the ND2 but assumed that it was permanently canceled. Now I see that it could be out by this May. Great! It will cost $800 to $1000? Uh.... Wow seriously? I hope that is not right.

I would be very happy just to have an updated ND with maybe a few more options, like the two way communication of the REM-Dreamer.

      thanks for the info

I hope it is cheaper that $800-1000. I have been wanting to buy a new gadget and it seems awesome.
