      Green Tea Alpha Power*

I had been looking into foods that effect the mental state in hopes of locating a food that would "truly" alter the chances to lucid dream. With this I came across something so i gave it a shot, and was surprised with the results.

I found that green tea was long used by zen Buddhist's, because they understood that it had an amazing effect that allows the mind to be in a Relaxed Aware state. It actually lowers the Brain waves associated with Beta and boots those for Alpha state in most people depending on the strength of the tea.

Green Tea also contains caffeine that helps people be Alert and Awake, but in green tea it has a strange effect as it combines with l-theanine "Property of the Tea". This gives the drinker a more "aware" state rather then alert like you would expect from Coffee and here's where the magic starts. With the Alpha state of brain wave activity, and the aware state of mind given from the combination of Caffeine and l-theanine, you can have an interesting combination of relaxation & awareness.

This state of relaxation & awareness is perfect for lucid dreaming and most certainly WBTB or WILD.
I have been taking about 5-6 cups a day of Green Tea, and one cup 20-40 minutes before I go to sleep. Its been 4 days since I have started and I have had 2 spontaneous Lucid Dreams; both "Mid-day naps", and very Vivid Dreams at night.

I have also found that citrus will boost the effect of the tea, so I would recommend drinking some kind of juice after your tea for a boosted effect. Personally I have been drinking apple juice because of the benefits to lucid dreaming anyway.

I would love some people to give it a try and post some results with a combination of Green Tea + Apple Juice / Sleep or Nap.

Hopefully we will get some good results

      Health benefits of green tea.

      1. Extremely rich in antioxidants, which are believed to prevent cancer.(Antioxidants inhibit the growth of cancer cells and this is how it prevents cancer)

      2. It can help to lower cholesterol levels. (Increases your liver’s LDL receptors)

      3. It helps cardiovascular health.

      4. It is very rich in vitamin C, which can help boost the immune system.

      5. It has a good amount of fluoride, which helps to strengthen bones.

      6. It is good allergy remedy.

      7. It helps to ease the effects of rheumatoid arthritis. (Reduces swelling)

      8. Help to prevent heart disease. (Lowering cholesterol)

      9. Helps to cure infections (Antioxidants, boosts immune system)

      10. Helps to treat acne. (Reduces toxins and swelling)

      11. Helps to prevent against cavities (Destroys bacteria and viruses)

      12. Helps to fight wrinkles (Destroys free radicals in your body)

Its good for you and may help you Lucid Dream

Nice thread, thanks for posting. I love green tea. Eating berries/other antioxidant rich foods might be more effective than drinking apple juice though...didn't know if you knew that or not.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that berries are also very good like you say. Just don't eat them before the tea or it ruins its unique taste

Man, I wished I liked tea Like my favorite cartoon character, Iroh

Maybe there is a way to make tea tasty even for someone like me? I mean, without using 10 pounds of sugar

Try pomegranate honey instead of sugar. What don't you like about tea? There are so many different flavors, you can't find one that you like?

Green tea's great, but the problem is, I'm one of those people who just can't sleep after drinking caffine.
I have decaf green tea, but even that seems to keep me awake..

I can certainly speak well of green tea I had already known it was good for LDing, but I didn't know all of the other benefits, so thanks for that. However, I also heard that if you drink it all the time the effects will become weaker. Is this true?

I took a cup once before going to bed. I accidently took that tea bag instead of another one. My recall went from 0 dreams to 4. The only thing is that I also took the tea I had wanted to take after I finished the green tea. The other tea has a bunch of herbs and stuff to make you sleep. I took the green tea again, by itself, a night after or something and I only recalled one dream. However, I don't think I slept so much that night either. Now that I've read this post I'm going to try green tea again. I'll try having more than one cup throughout the day and see if my dreams are more vivid.

I just don't like the taste. I've only tasted two or three flavors though, so who knows, there might be one for me

Ok, I'm gonna try with some honey

One thing about green tea is you are not supposed to steep it too long. It gets bitter. Only steep it for a minute or two. Then drink, reuse the teabag with another refill of hot water. The second cup tastes better than the first. Even according to the japanese the second cup is subtler and it is the second cup that is used to judge the quality and flavor of the tea. Also, you aren't supposed to use sweetener, but that is a cultural and traditional taste. I suppose if you don't like the flavor then use sweetener.

What is pomegranate honey? I know what pomegranate is.

Good advice, I only steep for 3-4 minutes or there will be a strange taste, if you can get Clipper green tea it doesn't taste as bad."Even though i have grown to like the taste"

You can always try Rooibos "Red Tea" its similar and has no caffeine.

(Also on another note milk may reduce the effect of the tea, sugar is not too great either, so for best results you would have to drink it plain.)

I tried using honey today. Turns out I don't like that either

Maybe I can learn to like green tea though. The first time I tasted beer I didn't like it, but now I love it ^^

      this is from drmercola.com:

This amino acid comes from green tea, and not only helps maintain a calm alertness during the day but also a deeper sleep at night. However, green tea doesn't contain enough L-theanine to significantly boost your REM cycles, and might make you wake up to go to the bathroom. Instead, buy pure, active L-theanine (some brands have inactive forms of theanine that block the effectiveness), and take 50 to 200 milligrams at bedtime.

      and from wikipedia:
Able to cross the blood-brain barrier, theanine has psychoactive properties.[5] Theanine has been shown to reduce mental and physical stress[6], and improves cognition and mood in a synergistic manner with caffeine.[7]

...its primary effect seems to increase the overall level of the brain inhibitory transmitter GABA. Theanine also increases brain dopamine levels and has micromolar affinities for AMPA, Kainate and NMDA receptors.

dopamine is supposed to be very good for dreaming. i guess those who don't like the caffiene can just take the pills or decaf green tea. i will try this!

Yep, This is pretty much what i found out. I don't like the pills though because they sometimes add things and also they don't have the other benefits.

That's a very informative post. Thanks a lot for sharing. A natural way to induce lucid dreaming is much better than lucid dreaming pills with side effects. I would prefer a glass of apple juice or green tea any day to lucid dreaming pills.

Alright, sorry it took me so long to get back. Didn't have access to a computer yesterday.

I tried green tea again another night and it seemed to work very well. I think my recall had gone from 1 to 4 in that night, which is really damn good for a school night. Yesterday I didn't get a chance to have green tea before bed, however I did steal a few swigs of my mom's in the morning. Holy crap was I ever aware. I've been practicing being aware so that I can hopefully get better at DILD, and I think for about half of the school day I was almost always aware. That stuff really works.

Today I drank a cup when I got home. I'm going to try to take a cup right now and atleast one before I go to bed. I'll post results tomorrow.

Green tea is majorly used as weight loss remedy. It is also used as in treating skin aging & diseases. Extracts have been gaining popularity as key ingredients in skin care preparations designed to treat skin as an anti-aging compound. Green tea polyphenolic compounds have significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, and recent studies suggest that these extracts help mediate ultraviolet radiation damage.

      Sweet.

Yesterday I had about 4 cups throughout the day. Didn't recall any dreams, but I went to bed fairly late, which is probably why. I'm hoping a cup tonight will help me out since I finally get a chance to sleep well.

Holy crap. Last night I had 4 cups of green tea in the evening. I can tell you it works O.O I had the most vivid non lucid I'm pretty sure I've ever had, along with what was probably the longest or at least more memorable. If you get enough sleep, this stuff really works wonders.
