"Imageless" Lucid Dreaming
There's a type of lucid dream that can be experienced in which one is aware that they are dreaming, but experiences no sense of "being" in a dream in the usual sense, and it appears that he/she is in a type of void. I occasionally have experiences where I will become aware of a dream conversation, but without a sense of being anywhere. There's no sensation of a dream-body. I see no visuals, only darkness, yet the voices are very clear, and as I listen to the conversation I am aware that I am the one making them speak. One person is the "teacher," and the other is a questioner, and I am quite aware that I am both, the one asking the questions as well as the one answering them. Usually I am identified more with the teacher (yet I identify with each one in the moment that they speak), and as I am dreaming this conversation I am actually spontaneously formulating coherent answers to the questions. My mental clarity is more expanded in this state.
My mind triggers these dreams usually as a result of listening to certain audio programs of a spiritual nature before sleep, in which there is often a "question and answer" format. These type of lucid dreams are deeply enjoyable for me. I also will begin to notice that my physical body is lying in bed as the dream continues, and soon the dream ends, usually with me having the last words from the dream conversation still fresh on my mind. I will note that typically this type of lucid dream involves the teacher from the particular audio program that I have listened to before sleep.
I am aware that there are really no objective teachers nor students in any "reality." All experience is totally subjective. We are each teachers/students, both learning and demonstrating through the choices we make.
