      First (unintentional) Lucid Dream!

Before tonight, I had thought about trying lucid dreaming techniques again, since school just let out, allowing me to modify my sleep schedule however I want. However, last night was just like the rest, I lie down on my bed, fall asleep, nothing unusual.

My dreams through out the night had to do with school, a common dream sign during the summer for me. I did not pick up on the fact that I was dreaming, until I showed up at school, at night. No one was around, and I was locked inside, I was a little spooked. After some time passed on, I had jokingly thought to myself, "How does this happen? I must be in a dream or something, heh, yeah, a dream..." Doh. I then became lucid, however, the dream started to fade. I can't really explain, but I was able to stay in by just "concentrating", not getting excited, but focusing on the environment of the dream, and somehow it worked.

Anyway, I then did the thing I wanted to do most; fly. I started by running at the walls of the school, then I took off. As I flew through the walls, I accelerated toward the city. I could feel the rush of the wind underneath me, taking me higher into the sky, as if I were a kite. I can't stress enough how real it felt! I could feel the wind rush past my body, I could see everything as clear as I can see now, awake. (or am I?)

Unfortunately, the dream ended abruptly with a false awakening, and I lost lucidity. I had had "lucid" dreams before, meaning I knew I was in a dream, however, they were no where near as vivid as this one, and I always woke up before I got the chance to do anything.

      TL;DR Lucid Dreaming is awesome.

I have a few questions; is this vividness common? and do lucid dreams generally get longer in duration as you get "better"? Also, what was your first lucid dream like?

I think once you get better dream control through experience, dreams will be more vivid and last longer.

My lucid dreams have definitely been more vivid and easier to remember than non-lucid ones. My very first LD sucked though (I don't even count it). I had sat down in the passenger side rear of my car, then kinda mentally smacked myself and moved up to the passenger side front and the steering wheel was there. I suddenly realized I was dreaming, and just as quickly it all faded out and I woke up.
