      Is this a lucid dream?

Tonight I dreamt that I stood off my bus at home, a little further up the road than usual.
As I was standing at the edge of the cornfield, I then realised I was dreaming, and
everything started getting blurry. I did a 180* turn to change the dream scenery, but
everything was too blurry to see anything. I looked at my hand to focus, but blurred out
and woke up/went to the next dream.

Note: I feel that I didn't actually realise it was a dream, the dream just made me feel
that and guided me to do the lucid dream checks. Likely because I recently read about
      lucid dreaming.

You can dream about being lucid and still not be lucid. If you have had a lucid dream before it will be easy to tell if this was a real LD.

It sounds like you just had a dream about being lucid. But only you will know for sure.

      I also remember this part of a dream from years ago;
I'm on my garden terrace and then I realise that I'm dreaming. A portal erupts from the ground, which I was forced to go through, as it would wake me up and I were not supposed to know that I was sleeping. I went through the portal and woke up.
At this time I didn't know what lucid dreaming was.

It sounds like you had a low-level lucid, or a "semi-lucid". They happen if you're conscious in the dream, but not so conscious as to be able to fully control any aspects of the location you want, because you might still retain a sense of reality. You might still believe somewhat that the dream is in fact waking life. You're aware that you're dreaming but may act almost lethargic, in a sense.

If you were aware on some level, even if it wasn't by much, then it was a lucid.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Next time you should rub your hands to remove the blur. That works

      Thanks everyone

Every time? Can I rub them too intensely so I wake up anyways?

Rubbing your hands intensely won't wake you up; unlike becoming too excited, rubbing them will only generate more tactile simulation in the dream. You'll ground yourself into the dream even more if you imagine the texture of your hands (and perhaps even heat generated by the friction of rubbing them together).
