Is Full Lucidity Worth it?

I'm not sure if these are full lucids or not. I've had a few since the site was down and I gave up a few weeks before that on trying to get lucid. But my lucids haven't been completely lucid. (or maybe they were). The most recent was where I was in a store and I realised i was dreaming randomly and I tried to find a girl (something I wouldn't do if i was really lucid) then i peed in a corner for 20minutes but I felt aware (or more so than i do in most dreams).

Anyway most of my lucids have been this. Are these just semi-lucids? is this all it is? or am I maybe lucid for the beginning of it then lose it and remember it better because of that? It feels like I'm more in control for a few seconds in the beginning and maybe I do just lose lucidity.

No, but seriously, you had a lucid dream, just, you couldn't fully control it, or focus it. It's totally possible to become lucid without being able to control the dream (or the opposite). It happened to me personally to be able to have only a marginal control of my dream. You might want to check out the section about dreams control ;)

You become lucid when you "re-activate" a part of your brain during a dream. That part is shut off, along with short-term memory to some degree. When you "activate" it, it's not like your turning a switch on. It's just that you start getting that part of your brain working.

Most lucids it's not working at 100%, so that's why your lucidity doesn't feel like in real life. Due practice though, you can learn to become more and more lucid which will give you clarity of thinking, thus being able to experience the dream in a much more aware perspective. When people say lucidity and vividness are related, it's due this. Control though is a whole different story. Although your degree of lucidity affects your ability to control the dream, certain factors (like being anxious, scared, or just unfocused) can lead you to fail tasks even when being fairly lucid. The deal is, the more lucid you are, the more easily you can understand and reject these obstacles in my opinion.

Thank you for opening this thread "Is Full Lucidity Worth It". and thank you, Zoth00 for mentioning the bit about the activaion of part of the brain that is usually deactivated during normal dreaming.

It makes me see why I hate going Lucid in a dream.

I try and try and try, on and off for over 42 years. I am 53 this year. But when I have gotten Lucid I would often .... sometimes try to run away from being so conscious inside the dream .... Then ... sometimes when I'd wake from a lucid dream I would wake in a bad or sad mood.

But later I would try and try and try again to OBE or lucid dream.

As I read the posts above from you, Brock and Ippo and Zoth00 I remembered my very-worst lucid dreams. The ones that make me HATE getting lucid. Now I have a clue to why I might be sucesfully sabataging myself so I don't go OBE or Lucid.

I, like you, was very disappointed with my first few lucids. Most of mine have been fuzzy lucids that only last a couple of seconds and most were in total darkness. Im also not usually fully aware, like my mind's wrapped in cotton wool.
But I had my most lucid experience last night after being interested in LDing for about 6 years and I can tell you it was TOTALLY worth it. I just felt like I was me but I could do anything!! I had full lucidity- I was totally aware of the possibilities and loved every second of it.
I have found it more difficult than most to LD but it's moments like last night when I feel a real sense of accomplishment.

There are many levels of awareness in dreams. What corresponds to our awareness in generall.
Some time ago I was courious about the 'realness' of a experience. In one LD i stopped for a while when i was flying over some big trees. I stopped and focused on one of those trees, what i saw was an amaizing quality perfect huge very complex tree with millions of leafs dancing in the wind spiced with yellow sun light. I was amazed and still am of how the brain can generate this mega complex multidimensional objects. I could never create an image like this counsiously!
The experience was totaly realistic.
Some times when i just watch what my subcounsious brain is drawing on the canvas of my dream, I am amaized. Im not sure that what we dream of is even only our own creation.
