Lucid dream with some..odd circumstances.

So, I remember this dream (well, this part of it) as if it just happened, though it happened in 2004. I am a spiritual person, but not religious, yet am skeptical as I do like tangible proof of things.. So, here goes.

It was Halloween night of 2004, not sure on the time but it woke me up in the early hours (nov 1). In the dream, I'm doing my dream stuff, and then everything goes blank. I'm aware of this in the dream, just plain white space, thinking "..huh..that's a weird thing for a dream to do". I turn around and an ex-boyfriend of mine (whom we still shared heavy feelings) is walking toward me. Confused, I say "Hello..?" He is still walking toward me, but slower, he says he just wanted to say hi, see how I'm doing, I say I'm doing alright...ask him the same, he says he is well also. He then embraces me with quite the hug, says he misses me but everything is okay, starts to cry a little, and I am still pretty confused, he then lets go, and I wake up.

When I wake up, I think to myself "..well..that was..different. Why was he there all of a sudden?" I think nothing more of it, we weren't dating at the time of course, and I didn't know if that'd be...creepy to call him about. Anxiety and such. Well, a couple months later, I'm over at a friends and he is chatting over AIM to some one, I see a mutual friend I didn't know we had in his buddy list, and bring it up saying it's a friend of my ex (and say his name), he looks confused and says his full name, questioning. I say yeah..that's the one..he says "Whoa, that guy died a few months ago.." I laugh it off, oh ha-ha, he says "No, seriously, he died last Halloween..." I just go blank. I get home, cry a bunch, and the next day remember the dream I had that night.

Now, I'm just wanting opinions on what this could mean? There's the obvious for spiritual folks, but it could all just be coincidence as well. No idea. What are your thoughts?
