idea for task of the month

I don't know if this task has been done already in the forum. but it should be an intersting one. Break a mirror and look at the shattered pieces. (do not cut yourself).

anyone ever done this in a lucid dream before...hopefully you won't get 7 years of bad dream luck.

That sounds like a cool thing to try. I'll try it (if i remember) next time i have a LD.

Another thing would be to get someone to paint you.

I would like to try growing a flower or a tree, or any plant in time-lapse. Maybe planting the seed and watching to see what comes up. Or just looking at the earth and making something grow.
Never stop searching for truth. In your search you may think you have found it, and perhaps you have, but if you hold on tightly to a single thread it will fray and it's greater meaning will become lost. There is always more truth stretching deep beneath the surface that promises to reveal ever greater the infinite, interwoven fabric of truth, woven in the looms of Heaven.

Another good idea would be to kill and disect a dream character to see if they are anatomically correct.

What a freaky idea man! Anyway, if its anatomically correct or not would basically depend on your knowledge about anatomy I guess. If u know jack shit about anatomy, I guess the DC would be really messed up on the inside, missing a lot of organs and stuff. But then you wouldn't really know...

Once I did that and when the DC showed it to me it was kind of unstable and shifted around as if my subconscious was still undecided. It finally settled on a slice of brain with a skeletal nose, mouth, and neck. It was painted with acrylic and outlined in black. I drew it and used it as my avatar for a while. I would show a picture of it here, but I don't know how to post a picture.

How about make it go from Day to Night, or Night to Day? That would be an awesome dream task.

The next time I'm lucid dreaming, if I remember, I am going to be there singing a duet with one of my favorite vocalists. I've had amazing dreams where the bands are performing. It sounds so intense, and it's so damn pretty. I'm not sure if this has been suggested before in other related threads.

      Seeker,

How does the Task of the Month thing work anyway? Do you already have a few ideas laid out ahead of time? I have a suggestion, but only a suggestion. Do you think there could be two separate Task of the Month threads, one is the regular, and the other is advanced and has a few more to do, and possibly more difficult? I am not saying I could necessarily do all of the advanced ones, but I have noticed there are a few people here that are very skilled and can blow through the task of the month with ease. It would be fun to add a little more challenge, and having a couple extra difficult tasks would help to hone dream control.

Of course one could just lay out their own dream tasks for themselves, but there's something fun about the mystery of waiting to see what ones are given to you, and then trying to perform them. Anyway that's my suggestion. I like how things are now, but a couple times I have finished the dream task within the first couple days and I then have almost a month to wait. That's ok with me, but as I said before, maybe it could be revised.

I usually have one or two in the queue, I have to give Aphius time to work on the badges. The main purpose of the task of the month is to get people to try to plan out what they want to do and to try to remember to do them when they get lucid. I've found that the people with advanced skills usually don't need that much practice planning and executing tasks in LDs.

I've had a few people ask for an advanced task topic and I've been considering it. Maybe I'll change it to Lucid Tasks of the month like you suggested, one simple one and one advanced one.

Welcome back, Seeker! So good to see you again.
Here is a pretty stupid idea, though people have asked me how I can extend or decrease time in my LDs:
Try to extend the time in the LD (not in real time!) to at least double the LD time (for example, if I had normally 6 hours of LDing, I would need to extend the time to at least 12 hours).

Whatever you think works best. I'm just happy to have this site and forum, so I'm not too picky, but I just like to throw ideas out there.

Actually, breaking a mirror IS bad luck. Dreams are very symbolic things. To intentionally break a mirror in a dream, KNOWING that it invites a Curse, would be an extremely self destructive thing to do.

Besides, every experiment should have some kind of hypothetical justification. What possibly could be anticipated from breaking a dream mirror? I can't conceive of any benefit, but I can suspect a terrible end. So far it is all risk with not a hint of gain.

Even provided that dreams are symbollic things, I don't put stock in such superstitions, and I'd feel perfectly safe breaking a mirror. Hell, I'd play basketball in a room full of 'em just to see them fragment.

And I think there was a purpose to breaking a mirror--- In dreams, your mind doesn't always move fast enough to comprehend things such as the internal workings of clocks or light switches, so breaking a mirror and observing the shattered pieces would be interesting just for the sake of seeing what was reflected in the fragments.

You don't have to be superstitious to believe in Synchronicity. Mirrors simply pop up too often as Dream Symbols -- symbolizing our Self Image -- that to destroy a mirror in a dream would simply be to invite a Synchronistic disaster.

Indeed, I would hesitate to destroy anything in a dream. dreams are real in a subjective way, and they impact upon our characters and personalities. Turning one's dream self into a habitual destroyer may set up a pattern of behavior that would not necessarily stop when the alarm clock goes off in the morning.

Yep, & if I did this during a morning nap, sometimes I extend the time to 2 weeks. I actually know that I am doing this in the LD, but I have only been trying this for a few years.
To answer that, yes I can. Experience, & that it took me years to actually have it 6 hours straight (I started at 1 hour at a time!)
