I didn't know there were layers in lucid dreams. I thought being lucid is a matter of whether you know you're dreaming or not, regardless of control. Although the control you have over the dream world really affects your lucid dreaming experience.
Since I'm a new lucid dreamer just like you, I can tell you it's fairly okay even if you don't have control over the dream world but it's good to set a goal for yourself in the lucid dream, otherwise it's just an aimless exploring if you're fine with it. Goals in lucid dreams might not actually be achievable for us because I attempted summoning once or twice and it was really, really hard for me to make something appear.
And I think it would be good to attempt DILD after you have slept for certain hours, maybe 5 - 7 hours? In that way your REM period will be longer and if you gained lucidity then, your lucid dream might last longer too. During my last holiday after I unexpectedly got my first lucid, I slept for really long hours to attempt DILD to get my second lucid. I woke up naturally after I got enough rest and I told myself "The next time I'm walking around, I'm in a dream!" and went back to sleep. Telling myself that same sentence every time I wake up from a dream.
By the way, congratulations on your third lucid!
