collective dream!So cool

I have always known of collective dreaming and heard people talk about it but, never really thought about to much until last night. I had a absolutely amazing shared dream. It went like this: I was in my universities commons talking in a big group of people talking about the latest scores in football and who's any good and who's terrible. That's not important though what happened next changed my whole view on dreaming. This girl I attend college with approached me and she looked as if she had just seen a ghost. I asked her "What's wrong?" without a definite reply she said " I...am...dreaming". It took a couple of seconds for it to kick it but I too then realized i was dreaming. I then just though alright just another lucid dream. I was just going to fly away and leave but something was telling me i had to answer her. So all i said was " You're not dreaming,you're just a DC in my dream". She just shook her head and said " No this is my dream and i am in full control, it's the weirdest thing I have complete control". My first reaction was that a DC in any of my dreams never was that fluent. I could have just flown away at this point, and i really wanted to but something was telling me I had to talk to her. So i said "Prove it". She started spinning and started changing the dream scape to a downtown area. I tried to stop it from happening. I just couldn't. I was stunned i was completely out of control all I could do was move my limbs. She was in control. It then hit me this is her dream and I have no control at all. I tried every wake up technique but none off them worked i was trapped. She then started to seem panicked and everything started to become blurry and black. I then yelled to her quickly " Remember the keyword i am about to tell you OK? Cheese". She nodded back in response and the dream faded and I was soon up on the phone with her. We had both woke up at the same time had the same exact dream and she knew the dream keyword. I was just stunned. This is probably the coolest thing to ever happen in a dream to me. I want to hear your collective dream experiences!

Man I've read too much about this thing and I'm sad it doesn't have a decent explanation. You are lucky to have experienced it! :goodjob: I have almost done it in a dream, I even gave a keyword but it turned out to be just a DC damnit!!!! :microwave: Hope I make it one day too.

It is one of the coolest things i have ever experienced!

A lot of people on DV are experimenting with shared dreaming and trying to understand it. Look at the International Oneironaut Shared Dreaming Project. We do a lot of experiments and we recently even discovered shared daydreaming!

I'll be experimenting too but with locals that is, I can't let this pass without having an experience myself. Your story sounds seriously convincing, well done on the dream.

Ya it was amazing it was just insane experience everything felt so real and it was just like, wow i have only read about this never experienced it.

For everyone who is Looking at this now here's a quick update: The girl mentioned has now started Lucid dreaming and is making great progress. As far as me I have improved in my dreaming skills as well. I feel ever since this experience I have had more of a connection to the dream world. I have also seen great progress in dream recall I think this dream had such an effect on me and my dreaming it was amazing

Did you guys actually give the keywords in real life?!

Well I called her the second i woke up because I had never had this kind of contact with a DC. Of course when I called her we shared our dreams and realized they were identical. After comparing dreams I asked her if she remembered the keyword I had said and she said "ya, cheese". At this point my mind was blown and I was shocked, so was she. An awesome experience!

Wow, this is truly an incredible experience, its seems you make have connected with some kind of Emersonian Oversoul :P. But, it makes me wonder what the requirements are for a shared dream to be created, and I'm talking beyond being in the dream state at the same time, and more into the realms of intentions, projections, spiritual connections, or maybe it's more spontaneous. It seems like a very interesting topic that we are just beginning to understand!

This is for sure one of the coolest things of my life!

Ya it would be awesome if you could do it on command! Unfortunately though there is very little known about the subject and many people try to perform tests but there really is no way to prove it. So even when people do perform tests and get positive results they are criticized because there is no evidence, it's not like I can bring a physical object back from the dream world.

Well the problem for me is that it happens to most people at least once in their life time. Kind of like how everyone has dejavu.

Scientific laws are limited to the things that you can do over and over without fail. Which means that it cannot incorporate anything that they cannot reproduce. This is why things that they are REALLY sure of are not laws.

So what I think is that there are a lot of parts of this universe that are like gravity or thermodynamics that have been proven and always work (almost always :P). But there are also things that only happen rarely and are hard to reproduce. This is why lucid dreaming wasn't proven till Stephen Laberge proved it. Because before that they said "There is no way to be conscious while unconscious." right now we face the same thing with "there is no way to have a dream with another person." We just have yet to prove it.
