HH with eyes open and while moving?

On Wednesday I was playing around with what I could do with Hypnagogic Hallucinations after realizing that I initiated lucid dreams with the HIT twice the days before. So in the spirit of exploration I drifted partially asleep so that I could start seeing HH, opened my eyes and sat straight up in bed. Crazily enough I managed to mostly black my vision out with my eyes open, regain it, and watch the green manatees fly under my ceiling. I didn't go back to sleep after that, so I know it wasn't a false awakening or anything. Has anyone else done this or know if this is normal?

So, you were blocking you real vision with "daydreams"? If that's the case, i have experienced something like it.

Yeah just like that. Although the "daydreams" were the things you see as you are falling asleep.

Well, i don't know if you have ever tried this but if you look at a dot on the wall etc. for a extensive amount of time without moving your eyes AT ALL (I know this is very hard, but it is possible), you will see your vision fading to the point where your are blind, until you move your eyes.

In that stage, i can see "daydreams" extremely clear, and that is also how i almost induced a sleep paralysis (i know that normal sleep sensations are not SP, but i HAVE almost induced sleep paralysis on myself by doing this even though i have never experienced normal SP before.). I can clarify this if necessary.

My point is, maybe if you couple the "dot on the wall" technique with what you are describing it could be easier to do visualizations for a WILD. That is just a thought.

Actually I used the "dot on the wall" technique to black out my vision in the situation from the OP, though I couldn't keep it up, I was still able to see them with my eyes open.

Are you able to use this technique in a lit room? Cuz it was hard for me even with all the lights off (except some light coming in from under the door).

I think I will use that technique to practice getting into Hypnagogia faster, and hopefully use that to manage the HIT again.

Well, i can do it no matter how lit the room, as long as i don't stare directly into the light source. It really doesn't take much time to learn. :P
The trick is to look at nail or some other thing on the wall and it has to have a size so that you can't move your eyes "around" it. In other words, it needs to be so small that you can see all of it without "micro moving" your eyes.

I've tried it before, but every time blinking screws me up :P

I'm sure I can manage it eventually, but you seem to be a natural at it ;)

The time I got it I was staring at the light on a fire alarm, and I'll probably have to try it in the dark until I can get it down better.

If you keep having problems, try doing it with your eyes like 30% open. I could stare non stop for 25-30 mins without blinking that way, so it might help.

Really 25-30 mins? You must have insane eyes, since I can usually manage only like 1 minute max. It think it would help if you could write a guide for this, since I've never heard of anyone doing this before.

Well, i guess that's something i could work on. I'll experience a little with the process and try to analyse it.

That would be helpful, I'll still be trying the process but I haven't got there yet. I've gotten close in dark rooms again but I can only slightly fade my vision when it's light out :P

I have tried to 'see' HI with my eyes open whilst sat in my computer chair in a very dark room for 30 to 45 minutes, just concentrating on my breathing and blinking normally.
I did get a tiny bit (more in the mind's eye as such) but I tended to get the odd auditory hallucination instead.

I'm quite intrigued by HI myself. I will have to try the 'dot on the wall' thing myself.

Experimenting with this, i just learned about how our vision works. (Atleast from what i can tell)

Staring at light switch fastener hole for about 2 minutes, the rest of my office begins to "fade". I don't just lose vision, it's like it begins to decay in details to the point where i am not able to see it. it is as if the brain needs the micro movements of the eyes to make a complete and detailed 3D image, which also explains why our brain can make a realistic 3D environment for us to behold while dreaming, since it does not just replicate our "vision", it creates it from scratch from our visual input.

So if we forcibly stop the movement of our eyes, our brain cannot fill in the "blanks" in our Peripheral vision.

If you want to try this, close your eyes to the point where you can see your eyelids comming into your vision. Kinda like when you wake up and turn on the lights, and you almost close your eyes, adjusting to the lights. This should keep you from blinking, however, there comes a point where blinking seems necessary, just endure and adjust the gab with your eyelids till you feel comfortable. It takes a little getting used to.

It's kinda fun to play around with. :P

Anyways, i will continue experimenting with this, but so far it seems that it is easier in a dark room. As long as you can see the focus point.

I found another interesting thing while doing this.

I you look at the picture above as an example, try looking at the focus point.
Then, as you keep your focus on that point, try focusing your "secondary vision" on the air duct without actually moving your eyes.

It's like looking around the room with your minds eye, and while you can't see things as you do when you actually look at them, you can clearly feel yourself focusing on something else than what you actually look at.

I don't know if this could be used as an exercise for anything, but i feel like i might just throw it out here.
