Getting closer to Lucid??

So the past few days, I have been doing all the reality check stuff throughout my day and just going to sleep hopeful. This happened last night, just wanted some thoughts! (I started messing around with Lucid dreaming about 3-4 days ago and have been keeping as detailed of a dream journal as I can since then.)

So my dream last night ended up being a kind of nightmare. Anyone that read my previous thread would probably think I have a ton of nightmare but, just so you know, I'm usually a happy dreamer- lol. And yeah, I know this is kind of weird (and a teeny bit embarrassing) but dreams are supposed to be aren't they? Also, I don't really remember any of this myself now, just bits and pieces, but its all in my dream journal!

Soo my dream starts in this huge, bright, open house with a few people in it and we're all watching t.v. The whole scene gets darker and the t.v broadcasts news that a miniature dinosaur thing has been running around killing everyone it can find. All of sudden I realize that there's a stereo blaring in the house and I just know the sound is going to draw this thing to our house so I run around unplugging every cord I can find trying to unplug the right one and turn it off. When the people watching t.v finally realize what I'm doing, they flip out and help. After we get the stereo unplugged, we all ran and hid in the kitchen. Somehow, I just 'knew' the thing was outside our house trying to get in because it had heard the music and I started to panic. One of the people with me flipped out, tried to escape the house, and ended up being the first to die. (Horror movie stereotypes, anyone? :D) It killed the people with me one by one until it was just me and one other girl left. I got on top the of the fridge somehow and found a knife there, which I gave to the other girl. We both tried to stay as quiet as we could be and hide from this thing. I 'knew' it was looking for us throughout the rest of the house and I felt so scared! I started crying in my dream and started telling myself that I was just dreaming and that if I didn't think about it coming in the kitchen and eating us, it wouldn't! I just had to dream about something else. That was the last thing I remembered about my nightmare...

I don't remember the dream changing or ever even realizing that it had changed but the next dream was much, much happier! Very detailed. I had an easy time recalling all these little things that I never remember any other time- the names of the people I was with, exactly what everyone was doing, I could even remember a few of things some of them had said to me. Not my norm. My journal entry this morning was much longer than usual and its getting easier to remember to recall more and more of the 'filler' stuff. I'm usually a vague, main event type of girl... Seems like progress to me!

I think I like where this is headed :) We will see what happens next! Oh, and for the record- starting my dream journal was probably the best decision I've made so far. I wouldn't have remembered a bit of this if I hadn't grabbed my notebook and thought it through this morning! I kind of like getting to laugh at the weird things my mind gets into when I let it go off on its own... :D

Did you actually realized that you were dreaming when you told yourself about it? If so, it could have been an lucid dream already, realizing it even for a split second counts as being lucid! Though even if you didn't, you were indeed really close. :)
Increased dream detail is a good sign too, your dream recall is improving and your awareness was higher than usual. :peek:

Awesome dream! It sounds like you were super close to lucidity actually! I agree with the Dream Journal being the best thing I've done. Even if I don't attain lucidity, its still awesome to remember all of my dreams and to have them be much more vivid!

I should pick up writing in my dream journal again. I've been sloppy for a few weeks.

If you had any realisation that you were dreaming, while you were dreaming, then you were lucid. A lucid dream is simply a dream in which you at some point realized it's a dream.
So, congratulations on your progress :) Keep it up!

Nice! It only means you're in the right mindset and with juuust a little more practice you'll get there :D good luck!
