      Is this a lucid dream!?

      Hey Guys,

Last night I had this strange dream and I'm not sure whether I was lucid or not.
When I woke up I felt as If I only had a dream about having a lucid dream... not an actual lucid dream.
I remember trying to breath through my nose whilst I was pinching it and it worked but I dont remember what my surroundings looked like. I remember at one point I tried to levitate my body on top of a swimming pool whilst people were watching me but for some reason all this just felt like a normal dream, im not sure its quit hard to explain. Then I remember I woke up and was in a car writing my dream down in a dream journal.. then I woke up in real life.
I just want to have a lucid dream that feels exactly what I'm feeling now as I type this thread and I can remember it like it happened 3 seconds ago. Please help someone?

      Cheers

It seems as though you merely had a dream about lucid dreaming. Annoying, but a sure sign you're on your way to a true lucid. One technique you could try, in order to have full waking awareness from the get go, is WILD. If you choose that path, have a gander at Sageous's tutorial. Good luck.

There's every chance you were in a low level state of awareness, but the dream wasn't very vivid. Do you remember thinking about what you wanted to do in the dream? Thinking that you wanted to go and float over the water? If you did, it was a lucid dream, you just need to boost your Dream Recall.

If not, then you most likely had a dream about Lucid Dreaming. Regardless, it is definitely a step in the right direction and this shows progress. Remember to keep writing in your Dream Journal to keep recall up, and keep practicing your technique. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply! Yes I do remember trying to float over the water. I remember a fair bit of things about the dream.. but thinking back over it now it just feels like a normal dream. Maybe my expectations of lucid dreams are too high? What I thought it would feel like is exactly what I feel right now, like actually "real". Im not very good at explaining things but I thought they would be really really easily remember-able for example like something I did 5 minutes ago.

I'd be keen on trying the WILD technique but i'm very afraid of experiencing sleep paralysis. I'm very easily scared, and when I start thinking of creepy things I get afraid of the dark too (as stupid as it sounds). But I hear WILD can be very effective.

The trick with sleep paralysis (or REM atonia) is to ignore the sensations and your physical body altogether. The thing about REM atonia is that it happens regardless of whether you WILD or not. All you're doing is keeping yourself aware during it. If you attempt WILD, I'd recommend using it with WBTB.

See, I personally don't see hallucinations when I WILD. I sort of feel like I'm on a water bed, but even then its a rare occurrence. One persistent sensation I experience is the feeling that my mind has left my body and is orbiting my head. Sort of like half astral projection or something. The thing to take away from this, is that you're not guaranteed to have hallucinations. Its different for everyone.
