Just woke up from my first lucid dream.

I started researching about lucid dreaming one or two months ago and evey method I have tried failed every time. Three nights ago I was reading about trying becoming lucid via sleep paralysis and it freaked me out. All the stories about dark figures and demons being next to you while you can't move are too intense for me. Anyway these stories didn't stop me to try and achieve a lucid dream, they made me be more aware I think.

This afternoon I went to take a nap. Usually when I do this, I fall asleep after 20-30 minutes. Today was no exception and I woke up after 5 minutes of sleep so I decided to close my eyes again. While I was doing this, I remembered a song and I started to sing it with my inner voice. My voice changed into the original singer's voice and I started to hear other instruments aswell. It sounded so good I started to feel happy. I felt this happiness moving through my entire body, so I decided to wake up because I am to excited to fall asleep. When I opened my eyes everything was normal but when I wanted to get out of bed it was impossible so I freaked out. I managed to move a little bit (it very hard because my body was so heavy) and I pinched my nose to see if I can breathe and I could so I decided to shoot a fireball from my hand, through the wall in front of me but when I looked at my hand it was invisible. I was feeling it there but I couldn't see it. That's when I began to breathe deeply and focus on waking up.

It felt incredibly real. My room was exactly as I see it now, the same amount of light, the same shadows on the wall, the objects were in the exact same spot as they are now. Even if it was scary for me, I can't wait to try this again.

I also want to ask you something. How can I achieve full mobility and get out of bed? Because it seemed impossible today.

i always have the same problem. i still dont understand why i cant see m hands. just keep at it and things should get easier :)

I've actually had the same problem as you have with getting out of bed in false awakenings, but I always manage to get up. Not sure what could work as a solution to your problem, but I guess it just becomes easier with time. I think it could work if you did your reality checks and everything BEFORE getting out of bed so your mind is 100% certain you are dreaming. Then just tell yourself "This is my dream, I can do whatever I want - even go out of bed".

Thanks for the tips! Today I had another experience, pretty similar to what happened yesterday and it felt familiar. I was still stuck in bed but I could move and see my hands. I did two reality checks just to make sure that I'm dreaming, and they worked. Also I focused more on how everything feels and how my voice sounds. One strange thing is that I started to rub my hands together in order to increase lucidity but while I was doing this I woke up.

Concerning the invisible hands, how were your hands placed when you fell asleep? Were they in any type of position that would decrease blood flow?

Hey there! I have had a few similar types of problems throughout my experiences of Lucid Dreaming. Not the invisible hands, but I have been stuck in bed, very heavy. It felt a little bit like an elastic band, the further I'd try to sit forward the more I needed to ping back. A few dreams later I was walking down the stairs and got stuck in the crucified position against the wall, I managed to fix these annoying problems just by closing my eyes and relaxing. I know now that struggling gets you nowhere, if anything it makes it worse. So relax, don't tense up your muscles as you pull away, convince yourself you will just part with the wall or bed, and you should simply fall away. That's what worked for me anyway. More recently though I had a thing where my left arm would get locked in the extended position and I could fold it inwards, which made flying very difficult, although this problem just disappeared after a couple of dreams. It's not uncommon for first lucid dreams to be short due to excitement or low awareness, but keep practicing and with practice they will become longer and awareness will be higher, also be sure to read those tutorials if you haven't already: Induction Methods and Techniques :)

Sorry for the late answer. I usually sleep on my back and I keep my hands next to my body, so the blood flow was not affected.
