DC Reluctant to Be My Dream Guide
So I've met this dream character. Like... a few times already.
First meeting: we were standing on a patio overlooking a pretty ocean. He was staring at the sea... then he turned to me and asked, "You realize we're just dreaming, right?" This shocked me a bit because none of my DCs have ever been "self-aware" like this. Upon awakening, I decided maybe this is the right DC to make my dream guide!
Second meeting: awhile later, I met him again, in another dream. I was lucid, and on a quest to find that DC... I was accompanied by another DC... whom later I realized was the one I was looking for all along! He seemed amused at me the whole time.
Third meeting: I met him again, and when I gestured for him to come over, he eagerly ran to where I standing to join me.
Fourth meeting: I went to an office and asked the lady at the desk where he was (I pretended he was an employee there... great way of summoning), and she was like, "oh, he's right there." She points at the floor. He wasn't working. He was chilling on the floor. (Which is very "in-character" too.) He asked me, "Do you remember me from the last dream?"
Fifth meeting: I decided that night I was going to ask him to be my DC. I did a WILD and exited my dream body. Walked right out into the street (it looks way different from where I actually live). I called out, and then I saw him skateboarding from a distance. Some things happened. Then I asked him, "Will you be my dream guide?" He just smiled and didn't respond. We took a walk down the empty street and I asked again. This time, he said, "Wouldn't it be terrible if we only saw each other at night and have to be separated for so many hours in the day?" I thought it was a ridiculous.
Sixth meeting: I was more assertive this time. "Be my dream guide! Come on!" And he just smiled.
His appearance is rarely consistent. His appearance may change slightly or drastically each time I see him, but I'll always "know" it's him. Like how he "knows" it's me, even though my own appearance is never consistent in dreams either.
He also seems to remember previous dreams.
This stubborn creation of my mind will talk to me and everything. But he won't give a direct answer when I ask him to be my dream guide. He's the best one for the job! So why?? Sir, what are your excuses?!
Could it be that he thinks I don't need a dream guide? Does my own subconscious think I'm silly for asking for help? Is it trying to encourage me to take total charge or what?
Very confused. Anyone been in a similar situation? What should I say to him? (with minimal manipulation -- I don't want to manipulate a DC who is supposed to be the one guiding me... I just want to see my subconscious act naturally.)
Thanks in advance for any responses! Feel free to share your stories too!
