A newbies feaky first LD
So I had my first LD today. I woke up naturally at 10am and realised it was too late to get to my first lecture so I fell straight back to sleep and started dreaming.
I woke up in my dream and realised I was dreaming almost straight away, as things were slightly blurry when I moved my head. To make sure, I opened my wardrobe with a mirror in because I'd heard that you can tell if you're dreaming sometimes by looking at yourself in a mirror. Like a stereotypical horror movie, my face sort of flashed between my normal face and a version of my face which I can only describe as a mix between my face and a greenish Dr. Mundo face (from LoL). This started freaking me out a bit, but I was pretty excited nevertheless as I realised I truly was dreaming. I went to open the door of my room when I realised I was naked and despite knowing I was dreaming, I put on some boxers just in case I wasn't. So I walked out into the hall to be greeted by a little cocker spaniel who was very excited to see me. Knowing it was a dream I started to test the limits of it, so I said to myself
"I wish dogs could talk..."
-nothing happens and the dog continues to bark-
"Guess it doesn't really work like that then!"
I precede to pick the dog up when it started shouting
"LET ME GO, LET ME GO"
This really freaked me out and so I made myself wake up XD
I'd heard about lucid dreams a few years ago and tried it out with no luck, but this came years after I had forgotten about lucid dreaming and has flung my interest straight back to it. I already have a notepad and pen by my bed to start improving my dream recollection - so hopefully I'll be getting some more (albeit hopefully they will be longer and more fun!)
Anyone else had any freaky first Lucid dreams?

I know exactly how you feel. I had my first LD a few days ago, and it sparked my interest in the topic again. When I realized I was lucid, I tried to flick my fingers to spark fire, but nothing happened. It's all about expectation really. If you TRULY expect something to happen, it will. But with me and you, we didn't fully believe we could do anything, as it was our first time at LD.
Aw, now I just disappointed myself by saying I could have firebended if I had wanted to...
BTW, read my lucid dream recollection as well, we basically do the exact same mistakes! Congrats on your LD though, I hope we both get more of these amazing personal virtual reality experiences!

Having just read your DJ, I'm now quite jealous of how long it was! Mine couldn't have lasted more than 2 minutes (or what seemed like 2 minutes). I'm really looking forward to my next, hoping I have more control and that I wont get freaked out again!
On an off-topic note: just woken up form a strange non-LD, where I was sitting in a café with my sister and nephew (he's about 5 years old), when my sister bought him a coffee. The drink was too hot for him to drink so I went outside to buy a couple of ice cubes from a random tray outside, using a fork to carry them back in. I put them in his drink, but then he complained that 2 ice cubes was too much, so I took one back out, and just popped it in my mouth (because eating ice cubes is amazing). My sister then said he should probably have two in his drink, so I jokingly offered he one in my mouth before going outside and buying another...
I can't remember the rest - still working on dream recollection!

Whoa! weird dream...
I really suggest you type up your dreams on a word-processed or online Dream journal. I'm doing both (in addition to written notepad) in case either fails, I've still got the other. I'd love to compare my DJ with yours, since we're both new.
I still have many problems on dream recollection, but hopefully my DJ will help me remember my dreams more frequently!

I still haven't had an LD... *sigh*
