My first one!
Thought I may as well share.
The majority was non lucid - I was walking through a room full of people, there was a lassie in a strange grey shiny tunic standing alone in the corner, I noticed she was pretty flat chested and had a funny horsey looking face, anyway beside her was a wee passage which I turned into and it led into a small hall/theatre like place, I sat down on the edge of the actual stage and noticed my father in law was sitting next to me, I turned to talk to him and the voice he was speaking in wasn't his! - I said to myself - 'This is a dream then' and bingo! - lucidity!
I remember being quite calm as I knew from reading online that one should keep focus etc. I started by looking at the stage that I was sitting on, I can still quite clearly picture the crushed up coke can that was in front of me, and quite a few fag ends and other rubbish. Anyway, I thought id better go and do something a bit more interesting so I stood up and headed slowly back through the passage - I was staring at my hands the whole time as I felt the dream becoming a bit less real. I could hear and see lots of people out of the corner of my eye, and I then came across the aforementioned shiny tunic girl. I stopped in front of her - she had a really disinterested look on her face. I said to her (I wish I hadn't now, coz the dream probably would have lasted longer!) 'So, do you want to do stuff?' She nodded very slightly.
Then I woke up! - damn - maybe 30 seconds or a minute tops.
That was 4 nights ago now. Last night, I tried just lying still as per the forum and trying to keep still while keeping my mind on lucid dreaming - I had two 'mini' events where I was lucid , for maybe 2 and 10 seconds. The first was a woman with short blond hair and tiny eyes with a child to either side of her, sitting on some steps staring right at me. I started to walk the steps towards her - finish.
The second was cool coz I felt the dream form around me. I was in a tunnel with a few other people, there was a funny lamp beside me, I was quite inetersted in it coz I was quite taken with the design of it and what my mind had created, only had a few seconds though then it finshed again.
Quite promising so far, hopefully i'll get a nice long one soon!

Oh thats great! you haven't even been here 5 minutes and all is going well, also, you have given me hope!!
I have only had a few in my lifetime, but plan on learning again. I am just starting a fresh.
Are you scottish BTW? (your lassie sounds scottish)

I am Scottish! - Sometimes I forget to 'translate' - my English teacher used to pull me up on it when I was at the school!

I just had my first one as well, last night after 2 months of trying. It was a bit of a letdown (albeit exciting because I finally had my first), because it didn't pan out into anything that cool, I tried to take control and ended up ruining it. It's kind of blurry because when I woke up I didn't record any of it in my dream journal and just went back to sleep trying to get back into it. I figured I'd remember it, as it was a big/exciting breakthrough, and for the most part I was right, but there are some small gaps.
It started out a regular dream, albeit a boring one. I was working as a mover (something I've never done in real life or even thought about), working with another guy loading up the back of a truck. We take off driving, and I become aware that I'm dreaming. Not sure what caused the realization, one of the gaps, but I did realize it. I turn to the guy driving the truck and say, "Oh s#%t I'm dreaming", he just kind of gives me a dirty look, in fact he doesn't say anything at all after we took off in the truck or for the rest of the dream. Just drives silently. I start thinking to myself that I just screwed up, pulling that "newbie mistake" I've read about several times where people run around telling everybody they're dreaming and wake up. But that's not really how it was, as I realized it and said it, it was more of a cautious realization, I think I was more thinking out loud than trying to tell him. But I guess in the dream I thought that simply telling a DC you're dreaming was a no-no, and I immediatley go about doing stabilizing techniques to try and fix my "mistake". Rubbing my hands together, doing simple addition in my head, and the dream world sort of fading in an out of focus, then eventually completely into focus, except now it's night instead of day. I thought I should try spinning around, but can't do that in the cab of this truck. I try to just relax into this dream and see where it takes me, but I start to get bored, as it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Just sitting in the cab of this truck with this silent man, pretty much complete darkness outside because there's no scenery, it's like we're out in the country and the only thing to see is the headlights illuminating the road. So eventually I decide I'm going to visualize a new dream scene, I go with this old hotel my family used to stay at a lot when I was a kid on vacations, it seems like a fun place I'd like to explore in a lucid dream. I close my eyes and start trying to visualize it, but I find myself in total darkness, realizing it's not working and getting mad at myself for trying to do too much too early, and then I wake up.
