      5 hours of sleep?

why do you people act lik you need 5 hours of sleep to wild. im getting pretty darn near achieving wild without 5 hours of sleep before. all i do is meditate. i dont eat anything. if i want to eat i do. like before i go to bed or somthing i meditate. having a relaxation tape helps. so i dont think you need 5 hours of sleep if you ask me.

You need 5 or 6 hours of sleep before your REM period begins. In this period the mayority of your dreaming takes place. It all explained in detail here:

      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...

Hate to correct you Truthbearer , but your first REM begins after about 90 minutes.

After 5-6 hours, the duration of REM increases until it is almost continuous.

      I bet you did, shadow...

Anyway, you guys are right, i frased it incorrectly...

I know that you do get dreams during the period in which you dream before sleeping 6 hours, but the actual REM period(I believed it was called like that) wasn't until after 5 or 6 hours...

Anyway, just trying to help someone out....

Basicly its just easier. If you are close without any sleep maybe you should try after 5 hours and see if its any easier.

I rarely sleep more than 5 hours a day (I'm serious!) and I still have spontaneous lucid dreams (including WILDs) about once or twice a week on average. What I do is I only "sleep" for once sleep cycle (70 - 120 minutes) then take 3 - 4 naps of about 20-30 minutes each day, preferably spread out evenly. This is a variation of the polyphasic sleep technique that the Army uses. Polyphasic sleep is described in detail here: http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2002/4/15/103358/720

      Hello,

This thread had been dead for almost 11 years and not many of these members are active on the forum anymore. It may be best to start a new thread or seek another which is a bit more current.
